I am making progress on the Christmas Request knitting. I have one more sock to finish, and perhaps another pair of slippers – depending on how the sock moves along!
I am also knitting my four repeats daily for Project Peace – and I am really enjoying it. From daily Peace posts to the knitting meditation – there is a noticeable change in the atmosphere at Casa del KatKnits!
I got a nice surprise this week from the Sheepspot Breed Club – Southdown! I have never spun (or knit, for that matter!) with this fiber and I am eager to give it a try! The colors this month were also interesting. Is it yellow? Or green? As you can see, others had the same question! Jillian has a great article in the new Knitty on color blending that I am going to try with the multi-color braid. And, yes – this fiber seems to be saying “card me”!!
My reading has stagnated a bit I am sad to say! I have yet to finish Burial Rites, which hardly seems possible with the insomnia I have had this week! However, I have about 75 pages to go and I hope to have this finished today!
The library just emailed me that a book I had on hold was available, so I have that to look forward to as well but, I am not certain this will help my insomnia!
However, this was the best find all week. Thank you, NPR, for this incredible list! So many books I have not read, but I was happy to see several I had read on this list! But, my “to read” list has grown exponentially! Perhaps, 2017 will be the Year of Good Books (and little else)!
I am also contemplating what knits I need to finish – and there is a list of them – as well as what knits I want to start in 2017. Mapping out the New Year is always a good plan!
What do you want to knit or read in the New Year?
Linking up with Ginny’s Yarn Along, where you will find plenty of well-read knitters!
So much fiber to spin, so much yarn to knit, so many books to read, too little time!
I read a lot every year, but this is the most I’ve read in a while. I’m looking forward to that trend continuing.
I really like the way your cowl is coming out. I’ve been knitting just one row a day — and it’s not enough. I hope mine is a pretty as yours. I’m worried that the pattern won’t show in a darker color.
Thanks for the NPR book list. It’s one of my favorite December treats.
I’ve got miles to go on my cowl as well. Trying for 4 a day but behind…Thank-you so much for that NPR list!
My reading has slowed down a bit, too. I can’t really pinpoint why, though. That NPR list is always so great!
December is not a month conducive to reading (or knitting). I love book lists, book prizes, bookstores, book anything! The NPR list was fantastic.
I read “Burial Rites” earlier this year and loved it! Hannah Kent had a new book out this fall — it sounds quite a bit different but I’m hoping to read it soon.
It’s that *dangerous* time of year when all the best-of-2016 books lists come out! I actually read quite a few popular new releases this year, so maybe I won’t have TOO many to add to my to-read list as the month goes on.
I seriously considered the Project Peace cowl after seeing it on Ravelry, but decided against it. I’m already working on a cowl (the Gilmore Girls MKAL) and since we’ll be in Hawaii for 2 1/2 more years, I don’t have ANY use for cowls at all at the moment. I loved the idea, though, of a simple repeat and checking the website for the “peace posts” every day. Glad you’re enjoying it! 🙂
*Another title to add to my “someday maybe” I’ll read a mystery again…looks intriguing. *Tomorrow, three friends and I are beginning the Peace Project at a Stitch-In…
*I think the color is celery…why not?And I love the multi-colored fiber…
For the past two years, I’ve joined Book Riot’s Read Harder challenge and I hope they do it again for 2017; the 48 books I read were ones I likely would never have picked up… and a few of them rocked and changed my world. Thank you for the NPR link – what a treasure of recommendations!
I am working on my peace project — but certainly not keeping up with a pattern-repeat-a-day! My progress is slow, but peace is in the air all the same. I love when the book-lists start coming out! So many great books to choose from. . .
hmmm, I cannot wait to read the link. I have to say I have really enjoyed most of the books I’ve read this year. I had a year that they were all so so and I vowed to be better and picking! Happy knitting 🙂
Love that NPR list! I am also loving the Project Peace knitting, though it seems that’s almost the only knitting I’m doing at the moment… TIME TIME TIME!
