“Activism is my rent for living on the planet.”
― Alice Walker
I know it is hard to believe it has only been 10 days since the start of the new administration, however in those 10 days there have been 3 large scale and entirely peaceful protests. In case you forgot – first there was the Woman’s March on Washington DC (which also spawned Sister Rallies worldwide)
Then began #StopTrumpTuesdays with rallies taking place at congressional offices nationwide.
And, then this weekend happened…
I had no clue that we are a nation of super hero’s – activated and ready – but, I could not be more proud!
Here is to an active and fantastic Monday everyone!
This weekend was equal parts appalling and amazing. Since I’m not an ACLU lawyer, I’ve made my phone calls this morning to thank my two Senators for speaking out against the immigration EO, and even my Republican Congressman who finally spoke out against the evil. I’ve donated to the ACLU twice this month, but now they’re getting part of my yarn budget!
Have you heard how much the ACLU received in donations this weekend? I feel so much better about the current situation knowing that there are others out there who agree that this is wrong and are willing to stand up for those who are being targeted. I fear that one day it will be me, and I certainly hope that this time around there are others who will not be complicit by their silence.
It feels so overwhelming, at times. I dread whatever he does next.
The next action taken will be to isolate ‘t’ from the bad news that always comes from one of his actions. He didn’t realize America cared about immigrants! REALLY!?! Our ROAR matters!!
My mood swings from inspired to demoralized. I often wonder how we can survive 4 years. I’m terrified of Steve Bannon’s proximity to some of the most important areas of our government. Yet we have so many people stepping up to be heard and let it be heard we will not allow this!
I’m energized by all the PEACEFUL action, too. and the ACLU donations this past weekend – 6 times the typical ANNUAL amount. I can’t lose heart with all this resistance going strong!
both my hubbie and I donated to aclu. I love how people are loving each other and standing together 🙂 🙂
It’s important for all of us to keep some balance — to find the good amidst the horrifying.
Standing UP! For sure in every way I can! I asked Norman if he recalled any other time like this in his lifetime – and he has an excellent memory – he said no! T’is indeed challenging, stand-up times!
