This week, there is no official Think Write Thursday topic however, thinking and writing continue. So today, I am just giving you a random round-up of some of the “thinks” that have become things this week.
I finally had enough cherry tomatoes to make Tomato Jam… well, perhaps it is better to put it this way, I finally had enough cherry tomatoes to eat and make Tomato Jam. The house smelled aMAZing yesterday. Although, the washing machine install guy asked me if I was making apple pie. I kid you not! I said no its tomato jam, and he looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language or had two heads. It was a moment, let me tell you. And, yes… I wanted to shout, “NO JAM FOR YOU”!! Suffice it to say that our Friday Happy Hour will be extra good this week!
And, yes… let me go on a bit about the new washing machine! It is completely silent… no really, it is! The only sound is that of the water running when the tub fills. I called Steve at work and put him on speaker and said listen to the washer…. He said, I don’t hear anything. I said exactly! I guess you had to be there, but it was a moment of sheer bliss. Trust me!
I took a page from Kym this week and did some deadheading… literally and figuratively. It was an excellent thing to do – my flowers look better and my mind is unburdened in a most pleasant way.
I was tempted by this little sweater and there is a rumor of a “weekend KAL” coming up! Well, swatching has begun. I know… what the heck is wrong with me!?! I am blaming this “cast-on-it is” that I am experiencing on the current state of affairs right now. As in, I must knit all the things before something really upsetting happens!!
Now, I am off to finish that gauge swatch! See you all back here tomorrow!

I love your random thinks and things! I was just wondering what to do with all my tomatoes, so I think I’ll be making tomato jam this weekend. The current state of affairs and concern over “fire and fury” bluster had me making phone calls to loved ones. I just wanted to talk to them (especially the kids) even if I sounded crazy, and now I’m going to go find the yarn I’ve been daydreaming about and cast on!
I am still waiting for my tomatoes to ripen (why do I have a feeling I’ll go directly from green to dead?), but I definitely want to try some tomato jam if I get a decent crop.
Love the sweater but need to focus on the one that’s in progress so I can finish it!
A quiet washing machine. WOW how lovely. We have a Speed QUeen and we will always want them. They have a kind of cult following.
My petunias are coming back! I cut them way down a few weeks ago as they were too spindly
I’m with Kathy B — as part of the Speed Queen “cult!” 🙂 That’s a darling sweater — but . . . nope, not this time! Since I don’t grow tomatoes anymore (too much blossom-end rot over the past couple of years), maybe I can pick up some at the farmer’s market and give that tomato jam a go. XO
That is a cute sweater! Enjoy if you decide to knit…
Shall we start calling you Penelope?
Yes we must all CAST ON ALL THE THINGS!!! (and even better if they’re things that don’t require swatching 😉
What kind of machine? Mine is definitely not quiet!🙁
Karen, it is a top-load LG washer… super silent! Like listen to your audiobook at a normal volume while doing laundry kind of silent!
I’m sort of jealous of that new washing machine. Our washer and dryer is in an ell in our kitchen and it would be nice not to have to hear it when it’s running!
That little sweater will knit up in no time. Our tomatoes come on slowly, but I have had enough Romas to make a couple of small batches of roasted tomato sauce (ala Vicki’s) and it has been fabulous. My washing machine is away from the living area, but it would still be wonderful to have a quiet one. Enjoy!
