If we cannot now end our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity. John F. Kennedy
I would like to say I had a great weekend, however, the events that took place in Charlottesville loom like the dark grey skies that greeted my Monday morning. But, Friday’s Happy Hour was much improved by the calzones I made that were inspired by Bonny!
Saturday, we stopped to see our friend at the Farmer’s Market and he had more peaches which I will be turning into peach jam this morning. We picked volumes of tomatoes and raspberries from the garden that will soon become jams as well!
My list will keep me in the kitchen for most of the morning, which is not a bad way to spend a Monday in which you are trying to make sense out of senselessness.
And, I will leave you with this bit of goodness that Steve sent me this morning.
I will take every bit of goodness that I can find, so thank you for gorgeous tomatoes, peaches, raspberries, calzones, and a wonderful 94-year-old. Just imagining the delicious scents of your jam-making is another good thing!
I love calzones – there is a place here that has the most amazing spinach, tomato, and garlic ones. Unfortunately they are ridiculously oversized.
Jam making sounds like a good way to spend some time.
All that produce looks delicious! Made “your” tomato jam this weekend – DELICIOUS (though mine had to cook for another 2.5-3 hours!!). So good!
Whatever it takes to help us work through this . . . crap. Cooking; nourishing; feeding the soul . . . all good things right now. XO
It boggles the mind. I was thankful for a bit of unplugged time over the weekend. So much jam!!
Oh thank you for sharing a bit of good news. and talking about real homegrown and homecooked food! Feels like a hug … and we all need one.
Oh that pool story is just the BEST . sharing it is perfect timing for the sadness we saw this weekend.
The video is just what I needed! 🙂
Thank you for sharing that story — it’s much needed after this weekend’s news.
Your peaches and jams remind me of my grandmothers peach and apricot jam (with pineapple!). Gardens are just what the heart needs.
I loved the KARE11 story.
