I have been doing some super-secret knitting during the day which I can’t tell you all about or show you just yet, but I am making some good progress. This has been assisted greatly by audiobooks (I am almost done with Bonfire) and Season 2 of The Crown on Netflix, which I finished yesterday.
I am anticipating this super-secret knitting to be completed today, which will allow me to BREATHE a deep sigh of relief!
I am also anticipating the 2018 Read Harder Challenge, which I am going to participate in next year. I have also been contemplating my Goodreads book challenge this year – do I play it safe or really push myself this year? Perhaps with the Net Neutrality debacle, reading might be more important next year as streaming Netflix might be limited. I am leaning towards pushing myself.
AND, as you can see, I am really ready for some Christmas Break Reading. The Library is being SUPER good to me right now and has somehow moved me up on my “hold list” almost to the GAH point! I checked out the above books on Tuesday night, and last night Killers of the Flower Moon was downloaded to my iPad. With these additions, it almost feels like I can make that 85-books-read mark!
But, how about some links:
First up, staying with the reading theme:
I laughed at this Hogwarts House Quiz (I got Slytherins and loved that I have read most of the books on the House Slytherin list)
I also loved the 100 Must-Read Books with One-Word Titles. I added quite a few to my read list!
Are you a mystery series lover? 25 Of The Absolute Best Cozy Mystery Series
Also, FYI: You can now follow hashtags on IG…
And, finally the knitting links:
Little Knots Cardigan… LOVE!
Is 2018 you Year of Knitting? Big Sky Weather Scarf This could be an excellent stash buster as well!
Pine Burr I am not sure if it’s the color (which is divine!) or the stitch pattern but, I love this cowl!
Bittersweet Oh, my. I love the texture. Will 2018 be the year I finally tackle texture?
And, Kate Atherley’s Rosetta Tharpe is FREE until midnight December 17th in honor of the induction of Ms. Tharpe to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
That is all I have for this week! Have a great weekend and I will see you back here on Monday!
Sending you good knitting juju! I’m feeling much the same way, and really need to finish Ryan’s mitts today so I can get them in the mail. I’m actually looking forward to standing in line at the post office because I will feel that great sense of relief! I’m bookmarking this post so I can look at all your great book links later after I get some stuff done; I don’t dare take a peek now because I know I’ll be heading down a deep rabbit hole!
Wednesday I received a Kindle Paperwhite (!!!) at our Christmas party and I can’t believe how easy it is to read now!!! Maybe I can up my book count this year. 😀
As always, lovin’ the links. I need to figure out this whole time/space continuum so I can work, knit, read, and enjoy the sand and sun (remembering that I’m from Michigan, so that requires travel…)
PS: I’m a Muggle! ROFL
What a find! I just downloaded the Rosetta pattern. Alerted two friends AND called my local knit shop to tell them about the freebie! Great great tip
Ravenclaw! 🙂 And I’ve got some super secret knitting going to and I’d better get crackin’! 🙂 Nice links Kat!
I looked for the 2018 Read Harder challenge this morning, but I guess I was too early … can’t wait to check it out – and so glad you’ll be doing it, too! and I was also sorted into Slytherins and must admit, I was devastated (and to think, I was worried my answers might sort me into Hufflepuff) … so much that I quickly closed the browser window and never even explored further!
I recently read that Ursula LeGuin book– Words Are My Matter. Liked it very much– and gained some new titles and authors (to me anyway) to check out for future reading. I hope you will enjoy that book as much I did!
And happy holidays! I do enjoy reading your blog.
hope you meet your secret knitting deadline. I fizzled out this week (cat) but I know I’ll get some more time soon enough!!
Good luck on the secret knitting project! 🙂
Thanks for the link to the one-word title books — I found a few to add to my TBR list (which is already way too long, but whatever.) As for the cozies: after 50-odd years of mystery reading, I find I have *outgrown* cozies. Who knew that could happen?
I am slowly working my way through the Crown — I guess I should say I am savoring it!
My reading challenge seems really tiny next to yours. But I finished my 20 books for the year (including two Outlander books), so I’m happy. I’m sure I’ll finish a bunch more before the year is out, especially as we’re headed on vacation next week.
Oh, and I took the HP reading quiz and I’m a Ravenclaw. Totally not surprised!
I met my reading challenge yesterday when I finished book #75. I think I’ll stick with that number again next year. I’d rather blow past my challenge than fail to meet it.
Hufflepuff. 🙂
I’m only allowing myself one Crown episode every other day. Savoring. Making it last.
Hope your secret knitting project is finished by now.
