Yesterday, I began my new stitching project and I am so excited about it, I had to share my humble beginnings with you all! I am happy to report that couching with hand spun yarn is the way to go!! And, I am maintaining my entirely “free stitching” and I used no tracing or no marking.
And, so Welcome to Winter! I have 88 more days to stitch and I am excited for each and every one of them!
Are any of you going to start a stitching project (or any project, really… I have semi-seriously been pondering this cowl) AND, there are some who talked about starting a Woman Must Make Her Own Arrows in January too! I thought it might be nice to have a little support group to cheer each other on. If you want to start a Year of Stitching and you don’t know how to begin, email me (kachrist37 (at) gmail (dot) com) and I would be happy to help you get started! If you are interested in a little group support for a year long project, leave a comment here and I will start an email thread of where to do that easily.
Now, how about some links?
I love the story behind this hat
More good cause knitting, Girlfriendscardigan Anke
That is all I have for the Friday before Christmas. Go out and make some merry today! Have a great weekend! I am debating about a post on Monday but, I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
oooh, the new stitching project is off to a beautiful start! and Joji’s new pattern is calling my name (loudly!) … I even have yarn on hand to knit it!
Winter is off to a wonderful start, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it develops (both the season and your stitching)! While I don’t envision doing a year-long project, I am glad to have some projects queued in my mind – another pair of mitts, maybe a hat and gloves, finish my gradient Hitchhiker, and then finally start my Match & Move. I’ve even been having dreams about that last one! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Kat, and a wonderful year of stitching, knitting, and making in 2018!
Your stitching never fails to inspire me. I really have to let go of the all the marking tools and venture into free-form embroidery. I love the way the word winter flows across the fabric.
The Women Must shawl is just beautiful and very tempting, but I’m not sure I’m up to learning so many new techniques.
I like that stitching! You are getting to be quite skilled at it, not using a pattern or anything. Good for you.
Have a wonderful, happy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! I’ll look forward to “seeing” you here next week.
I do love the idea of a stitching project for 2018. I have been playing in my sewing room and trying to get rid of things that don’t spark joy. I know there is something in there just waiting to be created.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend and a very Merry Christmas!!
Your stitching project is beautiful and I look forward to seeing how it progresses. Merry Christmas to you & yours!
Your project is going to be really spectacular. I’m looking forward to the unveiling of your 2017 project, as well. May your Christmas be warm, lovely, and full of joy and light! xox
I love your seasonal stitching start! I’m going to enjoy watching it emerge as the year unfolds. As always, thanks for the links. (I’m really loving that cardigan, and wish I’d already knit it so I could wear it right now.)
Merry Christmas, Kat!
XO
Merry Christmas Kat! Oh that last cardigan! Your Winter stitching is (as always) remarkable. Have a wonderful weekend!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I am looking forward to seeing what your stitching project becomes over the next several months.
Kat the Geminid Hat is beautiful. I hope your stitching project goes really well.
Im gathering my ideas for 2018 as well. Fun to start a new year. Fun to finish the old. Wishing you a beautiful Christmas. Im ready to start new knits
Looks like your winter stitching is off to a beautiful start!
Love your new stitching project! And I admire your ability to stitch a freeform word. I am considering the Big Sky scarf, although I would only cast on enough stitches for a single layer scarf rather than a tube. Because I have way too many WIPs already.
You are quite the inspiring stitcher! Congrats on working out the hand-spun yarn problem…your freehand writing is perfect! I’m toying with doing the arrow project – I so so love the concept and I ordering Joji’s new pattern as a gift for a friend…
Thanks for the links and the offer to set up a support group…I’m pondering a project and I’ll let you know…tbc
Cheers~
