I have been slowly plugging away at my Treysta, and Sleeve No. One is almost done! Sleeve No. Two should go faster, because I was smart and kept track of all my rows! Maybe by this time next week, a new sweater will be born!
I am glad it is the weekend and a bit of persistence will pay off there too! I got a new Lidia cookbook for Christmas and there is a cocktail (or ten) in there with my name on it. Perhaps a bit of a weekend celebration do-over is in order!
Now, how about some links to get the weekend started?
Shaila mittens were released last September but the pattern was not available for download until this week. Included is an excellent video on yarn dominance, in case you want to do some stranded knitting this year!
Staying in the stranded knitting theme, Setesdalish… oh my gosh!
Or, perhaps Vintersol
All of these are truly wonderful examples of stranded knitting!
Not up for stranded knitting? Perhaps just knitting a sweater is on your list this year. Both Margene and Mary give rave reviews for sweaters designed by Elizabeth Doherty and she has a new pattern out: Archer, knit with The Woolen Rabbit Airy.
Kate Davies also has a new pattern out today: Carbeth I love the simple lines of this sweater and the construction!
And, finally, PBSNewsHour is joining forces with the NYT’s and together they have started Now Read This! The first book is one that deeply moved me last year, Jesmyn Ward’s Sing, Unburied, Sing. At the end of the month there will be a Q&A with her! This should be so much fun!
That is all I have for this first Friday in January! Stay warm this weekend and I will see you back here on Monday!
Oooh, that Elizabeth Doherty sweater is beautiful! Might have to buy it — I think it would be great in handspun (though perhaps I should finish spinning for and knit the handspun sweater I’m already working on first!). I met Elizabeth at Rhinebeck, while I was wearing one of her designs, and she was just so nice that I’m happy to support her!
Yay for keeping track of your rows!!!
As always, love the links. Amazingly, I have a couple of them in my Ravelry library!!!
I was thinking I might try those mittens. We got to meet Ella when we were n Shetland
I loved Setesdalish and still do, but Vintersol is GORGEOUS. Not sure I’m ready to tackle another sweater. I am coming to the end of knitting my Elizabeth sweater but it needs a good blocking before the hem and sleeves are finished. I saw the News Hour article and think the discussion of Sing, Unburied, Sing will be very interesting. It’s an amazing accomplishment in writing.
I am STILL waiting for Sing, Unburied Sing. Sigh.
oooh, I love Lidia’s cooking and really had no idea she knew about cocktails; look forward to reading more about that! great links (as always!) … and yay for the NYT/PBS collaboration. surely there are 11 more (since Sing, Unburied is already on my radar) great reads for 2018!
Now Read This sounds wonderful! I’m still waiting for Sing, Unburied, Sing, from the library, but pretty soon I may just buy it so I can read it by the end of the month and be ready for Jesmyn Ward and all those smart people at NYT and PBS. Thanks!
Cheers!! I would love to hear about those cocktails!
Vintersol caught my eye as well! Thanks for the NYT/PBS link! (Well actually for all of your links!)
im going back to look at your whole list here. Lots of fun things to see. RIght now, Ice on the jaw and a nap
Love the idea of Now Read This! I need to speed up my reading so I can get this read before the end of the month!
Looking forward to the cocktail report – you owe yourself one. As we’ve discussed, I’m reading Sing, Unburied Sing via audio book…unless I can figure out a way to clone me…
Enjoy the weekend.
Cheers~
I’m on the very long waitlist for Sing, Unburied, Sing and really looking forward to making my way to the top.
Thank you for the lovely links especially Now Read This. I must get a copy since my library has a very long wait list at this point. But a new book to start the New Year is always in order. Hopefully my 6 month old distraction will let me read a bit more than she has been letting me knit.
I have so many sweaters planned for this year! I can’t wait to start on a few! Happy Knitting
I’m one of the oddballs that enjoys sleeves because the end is so very close. Lovely cuff!
I fell in love with Carbeth as soon as I saw it. What a great pattern. I’m trying to talk a friend into doing a KAL with me.
