Happy Friday, everyone! I am remembering what a slow start spring got in these parts. However, it seems that summer is not taking a page from that book. Next week our weather forecast is calling for temps in the upper 90’s all week long. Oy, summer is arriving with a vengeance! I hope that is not a foretaste of what the rest of summer holds for us!
However, my garden is in full on growth mode! I picked the first handful of beans and even a raspberry or two! Also, my potatoes are beginning to bloom! I will get some photos to share with you all next week. Everything is looking so lush and vibrant! Hopefully, this spate of ultra-hot weather does not change that!
My Vodka Lemonade is making steady progress (ball 3 soon to be joined!) and I have about 25 rows to go before The Great Sleeve Divide! But, today Clue Two is out! I am eager to see where Kirsten takes us this year! Mystery knitting FTW! (and it also eases the boredom of the seemingly endless sleeve increases!)
Now, how about some hot weather friendly links?
Daylight is knit with just 2 skeins of Quince & Co. Sparrow…
And, speaking of Quince & Co…did you see their Shawls 2018?
Those crazy girls at MDK released Field Guide No. 7 this week: Ease
Carrie Bostick Hoge released madder MEDLEY! There are so many wonderful knits in there!
Arisu, Summerline, and Bamboo Summer Top are perfect for this hot weather!
And, while this is not summer knitting, it is just gorgeous: A Grown Ladies version of the Cockleshell Cardigan
That is all I have for this week! Have a great weekend and I will see you all back here on Monday!
I wish my garden was doing as well as yours! I had high hopes for all my seedlings, but they’re looking pretty anemic since I planted them. I hope it’s just a matter of waiting. Meanwhile, I have tons of green cherry tomatoes and my basil is growing like crazy, so I may be spending the summer eating caprese salads!
Just like we need balance in life, it seems that our garden also needs balance. We’ve had too much rain so most of our green beans have rotted in the ground. Too much humidity has created perfect conditions for tomato fungus, so many of our plants have terminally wilted leaves and have stopped growing. Now we’ll see what too much heat does! I did just pick and freeze loads of sugar snap peas and the popcorn and zucchini look good. Have a great weekend!
The Quince shawls and Carre’s Ebook have caught my attention too.
That Cockleshell v.adult will soon be on my needles!! I just finished TTL Clue 1 last night and like what I see of Clue 2 so far.
I have yet to try a vodka lemonade. Hmmmm. Perhaps I shall add this to my summer goals
I am crushing HARD on that Daylight. And that new Madder collection is divine. Here’s to summer. It’s hot. But it’s not winter. (And that’s fine by me.) XO
Some great knitting suggestions-happy Friday
Enjoy your weekend! I have a protest and pool time scheduled.
Great links, Kat – I do love that new Madder collection … her style is just so wearable. I wish we had a garden so I could find something good about all this heat, humidity and rain! (I thought about those raspberry elderflower G&T’s yesterday when I made the one with mint … you DO need to get some St. Germain!)
I hope you can keep cool this weekend! I’m already sloshing from drinking so much water.
Oooh! Oooh! I love “Postcards from California” I must resist…buying another pattern and just knit on what I have, but soon, perhaps…
Summer is here with vengeance…I’m staying right inside where it is cool!
Cheers~
Oh my…I’ve forgotten about my knitting because puppy teeth can be so destructive! PLUS, puppy training is almost a full time job!
lovely knitting progress, I’m hoping I will be knitting once more soon (arrr – back!). Meanwhile I can daydream about knitting 🙂
I’m going to pick up my Vodka Lemonade this week, so please share any helpful hints!
We are having the same hot weather in Wisconsin — even northern Wisconsin. Is there no escape?
I love those three summer tops you found. Very tempting!
Oh how you temp us! I’m doing my best to remain monogamous and keep up with the reading. The struggle is real! 🙂
