My three things today are all about routine maintenance…
Thing One:
I need to schedule my mammogram today. I am posting it here for some accountability because I saw my doctor last week and have an order to get it done…but have forgotten to schedule it every day since then.
Thing Two:
Sometimes those routine maintenance appointments (i.e. annual physical) are not much fun. However, sometimes a year of hard work pays off. That was the case for me last week! My A1C was no longer in the bad range! I was happy, and my doctor was too! And, yay for weight loss, Pilates, and walking!
Thing Three:
Finally, I need to get the shingles vaccine…but apparently so did everyone else in America and that has caused a shortage of the vaccine. I am on the wait list at the pharmacy. They will call me when they have it in.
Those are my things for today, but what about you? Do you have any routine maintenance you’ve been putting off?
Want to see more and probably way better lists? Head on over to Carole’s!
Hmmmm…personal routine maintenance is up to date I think! Gotta call to get the gas fireplace serviced though. Have a great day Kat!
Strong work on the A1c – mine is not so compliant. On my list today is depositing som checks and making a dentist appointment – yuck!
I do the same thing (putting off my routine maintenance), but did get my physical two weeks ago, had lab work done, and scheduled my mammo for the end of July. Although I hate having to do all this, it does give me a sense of relief when it’s all done. Good luck!
I’ve had a switch of insurance again, but finally called the other day to set up an appointment with a new doc… it isn’t happening until November, but it’s on the calendar. I am thankful that the medical facility associated with this insurance has “Walk-in Wednesday” mammograms — no appointment needed, and I am a HUGE fan of this practice! I am (over)due for a mammogram and that was one of the main motivators in finding a new doc (because they need to send the results to someone)!
I’m glad to hear that you are on top of things as far as managing your health (provided you do schedule that mammogram!) and that your steps to getting healthier have paid off! I’m certainly hoping that I’ll get a positive report at my next physical (I’m trying to lower my cholesterol by losing some weight; so far, I’m down 15 pounds).
Your post is a good reminder that I need to find a new gynecologist. Mine just retired.
I just received my third reminder for my mammogram (which is in two weeks). One phone call and two letters. It’s a new 3-D imaging fancy thing. I hope it’s less squishy. 😉
Thanks for reminding me. I need a mammogram, too!
Congrats on loosing weight. I lost about 12 pounds recently, and it really brought down my blood pressure.
My doctor’s office schedules mammograms FOR US. All I have to do is show up at my appointed time. . .
And – good for you!!! Not only for making and going to your annual physical appointment — but for adding exercise and heathly eating to your habits. You’re reaping the rewards! YAY, Kat!!!
Three cheers for improved health. I feel like the older I get the more time maintenance takes. Good reminder. I am due for a mammogram and will call tomorrow.
Good for you! …I hope you’ve made that appointment by now 🙂
Hooray for good results, it’s awesome when your hard work pays off! Schedule that mammogram, girlfriend. I just got a reminder last week that I’m due for a colonoscopy. Good times. 😉
congrats on your wellness visit! Hooray!!!! since my back is wacky, I said to the trainer let’s resume the kickboxing (yes…I did say it with happiness, it is HARD). Anything to get me knitting!
Yea, those appointments aren’t fun, but are important. I need shingles, I’ve had them once, a very mild case, but still. Yea you on good results on the A1C
