I used to sew all the time, mostly for my children when they were little. I have found a new love of sewing for myself thanks to Lotta Jansdotter and Grainline Studio’s patterns. But, frankly, I had forgotten how fun it is to sew little things!
Yesterday, I managed to put together a Geranium for Genevieve – it is almost complete but for buttonholes and a hem.
Buttonholes… yeah. It’s been a good long time since I have done any buttonholes on anything (save for knitting!!)
I need to clean out the cobwebs by doing a few practice buttonholes before attempting them for real.
But, I love the simple but really awesome details of this little pattern! I was worried the flutter sleeves would be hard, but they were so easy and are so cute!
I found some buttons in my Nana’s button box but I am undecided on which buttons to use… thoughts?
Oooh…I love the vintage-y looking Minnie Mouse fabric!!! So cute!!! And the nautical motif is awesome, too!!! What a lucky little girl, that Genevieve <3.
I think I like the solid white button in the big photo. The other ones (in the small photo) look almost too fancy, JMHO. 😉
That is seriously adorable! I think the next craft I take on will be sewing. Sure, I can knit clothes for myself and my family, but sewing them would be so much faster!
Cute fabric! I love seeing how people are getting back to sewing. Makes me tempted to get a new machine, sort of😉
So cute!
Darling fabric! That is going to be such a cute Geranium. The only buttons I could see were the white ones which would look fine.
Oh my!! SO CUTE!!! I will be attempting buttonholes on Junah’s shirt (I think)… am reminded that the last time I had my machine in for service was because it WOULDN’T do buttonholes and I don’t think I’ve actually tried since. I’ve done snaps on all the girls’ dresses! I just LOVE all the possibilities with that pattern — the sleeve treatments, pleats or gathers, long or short, the neckline options… and that’s not even with the EXPANSION PACK!! 😉
So cute, Kat! I’d go with . . . red buttons myself. (I know that’s not what you’ve got, but that’s what I’d do.) She’s going to be so adorable in that little dress!!! XO
Adorable! I’d go with red or blue buttons but if you only have white then I’d use the ones in the top photo. My Husqvarna does great automatic buttonholes, thank goodness!
I like the 4 hole buttons best. That fabric is so cute!
I think I’d go with red or blue buttons. Although white would give it a more vintage look. I don’t think you can go wrong with such cute fabric.
I can’t image ever mastering buttonholes on a sewing machine. I’m still struggling with straight lines!
So cute; I vote for red or blue, and I really hope we get to see a modeled photo soon!
Oh Kat, it’s adorable! I do think red buttons would be cute, but of the two choices here, I like the 4-hole ones better. (and there’s an expansion pack to the pattern?! oh my the cuteness!!)
I certainly agree on red buttons, but the four white buttons look best if red isn’t an option. The fabric is so cute!
I adore your project! my toddler girl that I baby sit would flip for that fabric choice!
