Hello, Friday! I am so glad you are here! It’s been a crazy week and I am more than ready for the weekend to be here! I have no major plans this weekend other than doing some catch up reading because I have a book due on Monday and there is a wait list for it, so I need to finish it!
Thinking About – The ongoing conversation in the Fiber Community about being more welcoming and inclusive of all, especially of those of the BIPOC community. These are painful, but necessary discussions – change is not easy and seeing things from the viewpoint of someone else is even harder. I am learning to be a better ally and learning much about myself in the process.
Grateful For – The incredibly warm week we have had! There were even more than a few moments of sunshine scattered between the rain showers! Temps in the 60’s are unusual for us in February, but it was much appreciated even if it is short-lived! Yes, winter returns today! But that taste of spring might just be enough to get me through the month!!
Inspired By – All you sketchers out there! Did you see The Sketchbook Project? What a fascinating idea! And, shame on me for not knowing about the Brooklyn Art Library! It “is home to over 41,000 sketchbooks from over 130 different countries.” Yes, this has made it to the “need to visit” list! No, I am not going to get a sketchbook, but if you participate – let me know! I will cheer you on!
Focused On – Getting my first shingles vaccine today with some trepidation. Great way to potentially sideline part of a weekend but I have been on the wait list for the vaccine for almost 8 months and it is something I really need to get done! I have had a couple of friends suffer from shingles outbreaks and I have no desire to be that miserable…ever!
That is all I have for today! Have an amazing weekend and I will see you back here next week!
I will agree that this has been a wonky week but the weekend ahead looks to be a wild ride too so I will be hunkering down with yarn and tea and a new audio book. That Sketchbook project has been on my watch list for quite awhile.
I had no idea there was a wait list for the shingles vaccine. My doctor has been urging me to get it, and I always say “Later”. Looks like it really will be later. Have a great weekend (hopefully without vaccine side effects)!
I too am really looking forward to the weekend. It’s been a crazy busy week at work, and on top of that I have this annoying cough that’s sapping all my energy. I need time to sleep in and relax!
Enjoy your book!
I’ve had the new shingles vaccination (both doses). They both wiped me out!!! It’s probably a good thing you have an open weekend . . . just in case it hits you hard. (Still — FAR preferable to actual shingles!!!!) We had a bit of a warm patch here . . . but it rained/drizzled/iced pretty much the entire time, so there wasn’t an easy way to take advantage of it. Sloppy. Dreary. But warmer! Today? 14ºF with a below-0 windchill and snow. (Yippee.) Enjoy your weekend!
It’s sunny and in the 50s here right now – hooray! If Jack wakes up from his nap in time I’m going to take him for a walk. Happy weekend!

I hope you have no side effects. I didn’t, except for a very sore arm. Keep it moving! Rub the vaccinated area and get the serum dispersed and it will be less painful (at least it was for us). I’m so glad I’ve had both doses. No more waiting.
I had the shingles shots – you take two, couple months apart; t’wasn’t bad ~ just a bit of soreness at injection point. We have sun and winds today and possibly a flake or two tomorrow…Monday…wacky weather. My friend in Portland says they’re gearing up for a “major” snowstorm…unusual in Portland…
Enjoy the weekend and the read!
Cheers~
I got my second shingles vaccine an had no problems. Fireman got his second shot last thursday…..and he felt awful the next day. And the next day he was fine. But it was over quick. And you are so right, we don’t want shingles
Hope the shot went well. I can’t imagine having to wait 8 months for it. YIKES!
This was a crazy week …. and I’m so glad it’s the weekend now. Funny we both got inspired about sketching. I would love to be more artfully-inclined with all my notebooks. but honestly, I’m really a word person. Happy Saturday!
Kat i was able to use the Classic Editor option as you suggested. Phew. I did not like their new editor at all! Thanks
I haven’t got the shot yet…eep! I had shingles but I guess you can get it again and again. The sketchbook project looks like fun.(fun to watch!)
Might as well wish a happy Monday-yes so much to think about these days-something that I think has been sorely lacking for a while. I have had shingles and although it was not a sever case I’m concerned about getting slammed the next time. The vaccination is high on my list-good for you for staying on top of that.
Nothing will make one get the shingles vaccination like having a friend get an attack. (Worked for me.) You must be getting the new one — Shingrix; national shortage.
