Monday’s are never fun, but when Monday and Tax Day fall on The.Same.Day. Well, that should just be against the law, imo!
Happy Tax-Monday…NOT!
So, rather than dwell on the Monday-est Monday ever – let’s rewind the weekend a bit, shall we?
Friday, I managed to get a good bit of knitting done on my sweater, but it did not get anymore “knit time” during the weekend except for a few brief moments on Sunday. Still – borrowing a great idea from a brilliant blogger – I have visible progress! Woo hoo!
Happy hour was fantastic – martini’s with bleu cheese stuffed olives are simply divine! And, the meatballs were not bad either! Haha!
Saturday, oh Saturday… we wondered if Janoski’s might have asparagus in – but alas, it is still a couple of weeks out. So, back to the task of the day… taming the back yard. It took most of the day, but not as long as either of us imagined… which was a good thing. Steve grilled burgers for dinner (which as also a good thing!) Now, here is where our age factor showed up – by 6PM I was MORE than ready for bed – as was Steve. I wish I was kidding… but sometimes reality bites…and early bedtimes are a must! Haha!
Sunday brought rains and Palm Sunday church was wonderful as was the pedicure after church! Remind me to do that next year the day after “Back Yard Clean Up” because that massage chair… oh yeah! The day rounded out with a jump start on laundry, a wee bit of knitting, and omelets for dinner.
The perfect, and simple, ending to a too short weekend!
How about you? How was your weekend?
Boo to Monday Tax Day, but hooray for a pretty good weekend! I’m mailing my taxes out this morning and rewarding myself afterwards. I’m not yet sure what the reward will be but something good and a happy dance are in order!
The marker to see progress in knitting is a great thing, as there always seems to be a black hole when you’re measuring and keep measuring the same length. Sounds like it was a productive if tiring weekend. The pedicure and massage sound like a good way to reward yourself for all that physical work in the yard!
We filed taxes weeks ago (thankful for a refund) so this Monday is a non-event. We enjoyed our first asparagus on Friday but the bed froze on Saturday. However, I’m sure we’ll have another crop later this week. Tis a wet spring around here! I like your idea of “visible progress”. Even I made a little progress by that measure.
I would love to do some Spring clean up in my yard, but we keep having so much rain that I have little ponds all over the backyard. As soon as they start to dry out, it rains again! And, we had a freeze last night. I’m looking forward to some warmer and dryer weather.
I can’t wait for fresh local asparagus! Crap taxes. Blech. Otherwise, I tended to a cold all weekend — a 3-day weekend, at that. I thought I was getting the better of it on Saturday morning, but took a turn in the afternoon. Three days, three naps, lots of sewing, a bit of knitting… GoT!
I got my taxes done a couple of weeks ago (for the first time in forever, we got a refund – so happy for that), but Monday is Monday. We woke up to snow (yeah) and a furnace on the fritz. A Monday-Monday for sure!
So glad our taxes were done (by someone else) some time ago and, like Kym, we actually got a refund this year! But boo for Tax Monday anyway. The pedicure sounds like a perfect way to celebrate the end of that chore!
My husband figured out our taxes a while ago, so that wasn’t an issue. It was a busy weekend with friends and family — but not enough time for art and knitting. The weekends just aren’t long enough.
Neat idea to have a pedicure after a day in the yard! Your weekend sounded relaxing and productive. Taxes done last week and sent in!
Cheers ~
Quiet weekend – chilly but sunny. We went for a long walk on a rural trail on Sunday afternoon. As soon as my shoulder is better I have lots of weeds to pull. Not sure I could get it all done in one afternoon though. Sometimes an early bedtime with a cup of tea and a book is a good idea. I know, I am getting old.
fresh asparagus is the best ever (besides fresh green beans!). Glad you had some rest and pampering at the pedicure 🙂
I’m looking forward to a pedicure tomorrow! not that I’ve done any yard work to deserve that pampering 😉 but Easter toes, you know!
Last Monday was Patriot’s Day in MA so we get an extra day to pay our taxes. Aren’t we lucky! LOL
