I thought that for the month of December, it might be nice to spend Monday’s with a bit of poetry. I hope you find this a lovely way to start your week!
Winter Trees
All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.
(And this week is a Two-fer becauseĀ Jack Ridl sent this yesterday and it is just too good to not share and included is the sound clip of him reading it)
Happy Monday All!
Thank you for providing the most perfect way for me to start my Monday and my week! I like how evocative Winter Trees is and a beautiful way to describe what I see outside. And the Jack Ridl poem! I read it twice, listened to him read it, and will be thinking about it for a long time (and perusing Rattle a lot more). Thank you very much, Kat!
Oh that second poem! Heart-breaking. Winter Trees is a beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing both.
You’ve made me look forward to Mondays again – thank you š
Both poems are beautiful and The Last Day of November? Oh my goodness. One part that caught my attention:
…I want the curriculum revised
to teach sentimentality
This is one of the reasons I’ve decided to homeschool. I think teaching kindness and a gentle touch are so much more important than the competitive way things are done right now.
I’m wishing you a good week ahead!
Such a perfect poem for this gloomy Monday. Thank you!
Trees are such a lovely example of creation because they are stunning in every season. I look forward to more Monday poetry – thank you!
What a beautiful poem on Monday evening. Thank you.
