Green was the silence, wet was the light,
the month of June trembled like a butterfly.
― 100 Love Sonnets
Welcome June!
Although it is so hard to leave May… I am here to embrace every single moment of June… slowly.
I want to delight in the tiny coleus, impatiens, and tomatoes I planted last month… as they grow by leaps and bounds this month!
I want to find a way to love the hot days as much as I do the cooler ones.
I want to finish my vacation socks and make some serious headway on my Ooh La La sweater!
And I want to spin more… I have spent some time at my wheel recently and it is the best calming activity!
But! In case you think it is all sunshine and roses over here… June does have a downfall…sigh.
Allergies and insomnia… June is the worst month for my allergies and bad allergies makes for poor sleep. Five days in and allergies are bad… sleep is worse… but it all started after Memorial Day… so maybe the early start might mean an early finish? I am hoping!
What about you? What are you hoping for this month?
P.S. For the inquiring spinning mind, the fiber up top is Inglenook Fibers Freshwater Pearls on Targhee… and it is a delight to spin!
That is beautiful fiber and I hope June brings you sleep and allergy relief! I’m hoping for June days on the cooler side, some rain, lots of happy knitting, and that someone bakes me a birthday cake. (It will probably be Ryan; I know better than to expect that from John or Justin!)
I’m hoping for allery relief…or I will need to take out stock in Kleenix! and Zyrtech! I think I’ve already gone through half a box of tissues this morning and let’s not talk sleep, or lack thereof….My wish is that work eases up and allows me to have some fun!
June is my favorite month. My garden has usually settled into it’s loveliest state, and most of the major garden chores are complete. Some years my allergies are bad; some years not so much (it’s a crap shoot). I am just looking forward to . . . enjoying whatever rolls my way this month. XO
Allergies have been really, really bad lately, so you have my sympathies. I’m doubled up on meds and still feeling them! After that hot start to the month, it seems like this week will be perfect June weather — though can you believe it looks like we might have an arts festival week with no rain?! I hope your garden explodes this month and you have lots of spinning and knitting time.
I hope your allergies ease soon so that you can get some rest. But until then — I am glad you’re able to see so much beauty around you! Also — that fiber is just gorgeous. I hope it helps a little??
Commiserations on the allergies. My eldest has been suffering from tree pollen which is no joke. My aim over these Summer months is to finish things I have started before doing anything else.
Doctor Mom here. Have you tried Claritin or Allegra? Both are non-drowsy antihistamines. /doctormom
Summer where I live is such a brief magical time. Today is cloudy and cool; tomorrow may be hot and humid. And that is summer! (I remember wearing a winter parka to watch July 4 fireworks.)
AMEN! I want to savor the everything that June can be. I see lots of stitching in my June and of course knitting. I also want to daily spend time in my sketchbook.
I love June, as I’m sure you know, and I want it to SLOW DOWN already!
Less pollen ———–allergies are one reason and my car. I drive a very dark grey car which has been mostly either green or yellow since the end of April.
UGH!
The pollen and blossoms are BONKERS here this year! I’ve never had allergy trouble, ever, and I’m sneezing like mad. A little rain would help! Clean the air!
I’m loving, loving June so far. Between the breeze and the pace and a renewed joy of cooking, I’m a happy gal these days.
What beautiful fiber. We’ve been out of town so I am catching up. It sounds like you have great plans for enjoying June. I hope the allergies calm down soon. No fun.
