Fiber Friday, December 1

Fiber Friday, December 1

You all have no clue how hard it was to type December! But, yes, it is here. Bring on the merriment and all that good cheer! Amirite?

Or, perhaps it is a much better idea to jump on board the Peace Knitting Train

I was worried a bit about having enough yardage of my handspun, but then I got an update from our Peace Project leader which alleviated many of my fears. So, shortly I will get out my size 8 needles, cast on, and channel all the peace I can muster on this first day of December!

I am hoping clue #1 is short as I want to get back to this yoke. I am almost done with the colorwork, then on to some short-row shaping. But, either way I have a wonderful knitting companion in Never Caught, which is not long and I am almost done with it! It is fascinating and filled with history I did not know about at all! It will be the perfect companion for today’s knitting time!

Now, here are a few links for your first weekend in December!

Nothing says get ready for Christmas like Arne and Carlos. They have big plans for Sunday nights, and if you don’t subscribe to their YouTube channel, you should!

Útivist (meaning outdoors in Icelandic; pronounced ootivist)
Baby Yoke Sweaters These are just too cute!
Jolly Stocking Cap This reminds me of a cap I had when I was a little girl!
Aada These mittens!
Aubade
Londoner I really love this!
Ambient, a sweatshirt sweater with lovely details.
Faux cables make Aileas worth considering! Also, I love the version with the contrasting color in the neckband and inside the pockets!
Svetlana is celebrating 2018 and the Year of the Dog with her Foo Dog Mittens
Beth Smith has kits for her Spin and Weave Along for sale!

AND!!!! The SwissMiss had a link that blew me away today! Now, I am no pie baker but…these pies!

That is all I have for this week, I have some knitting to do! See you all back here on Monday! Enjoy your weekend!

Three on Thursday, November 30

Three on Thursday, November 30

Today’s three things are all about celebration! So, first, a little listening music for this celebration post!

Thing 1:

Today is the final day of another successful NaBloPoMo! Yahoo! This is our celebration!

Thing 2:

My November stitching will get its last stitches today and tomorrow I will begin December! And, December will bring to the close this Year of Stitching. I cannot tell you how much I have loved growing in this project! I have such incredible ideas for next year, I can’t wait to share it with you all in December! Celebrate good times, come on!

Thing 3:

The Peace Train starts tomorrow! And, after a quick toss of the stash, I have found the perfect yarn for my Peace Shawl. And, it is hand spun yarn to boot!! Let’s celebrate!

There you have my celebratory  things for this final day of November! If you want to see more Thursday Things, head over to Carole’s!

Unraveled Wednesday, November 29

Unraveled Wednesday, November 29

No unraveling here at all this week, just plenty of sweater love! This is my finished Rusty, which turned out better than I could have imagined. Things I would change…I reduced the number of stitches picked up, but I think I could have reduced a tiny bit more. But, it is much better than previous attempts at this! I had to add in 3 stitches on the round before I began the color work to get the pattern to work out correctly. But, I just love this sweater. It is warm and so comfortable! I would absolutely knit this again with the exact same yarn. And, can I talk about Plutolopi for a moment? I LOVE IT! You might think it would be kind of iffy looking at the wheels, but it makes the most amazing fabric! I will definitely be knitting with this stuff again!

Now, if only sweater weather would stay here for a bit! This week we have headed back to the upper 50’s and low 60’s during the day. Crazy. And, what is crazier is that Steve mowed the lawn yesterday. Yeah. He was thrilled, let me tell you! LOL

And, now how about some reading updates!!

I have about 10 chapters to go in Bury Your Dead by Louise Penny. It is so good, and I am hopeful that I will have this done before November ends!

I finished Pioneer Girl: The annotated Autobiography by Laura Ingalls Wilder and LOVED IT! It got 5 stars from me and I highly recommend this for anyone who has read and re-read the Little House books.

I also finished A Small Porch by Wendell Berry, oh my. I loved it. This was my first Wendell Berry book, but it won’t be my last. It was such a breath of fresh air for my head, and I gave it 5 stars as well.

I have some good things in my listening queue that will be up next: an interesting suggestion I got from the library – Never Caught, The Washington’s relentless pursuit of their runaway slave, Ona Judge, by Erica Armstrong Dunbar. And The 100-year-old who climbed out the window and disappeared by Jonas Jonason which was recommended to me by Mary. I am eager to start listening to them.

So many books, so few days left this year. I won’t make 100 books read this year, but I am hoping to get to 85 (I am at 72 books completed today!)

But, really… what are you making this week?

Tuesday Things, November 28

Tuesday Things, November 28

I had absolutely no clue what to write about today and then the swissmiss newsletter came!

And, especially this link!

I have:

Rosemary
Wire
Yarn

Perhaps a bit of a riff on this. I am thinking this will be the most festive accompaniment to my Christmas decorations! Who knew I would still have Rosemary growing at the end of November, but somehow I do! I wish you could smell it in here right now!

In a totally unrelated thing: why is it that lights that worked last year when you took them off the tree, magically no longer work this year when you are trying to put them on the tree? I am pretty sure there is a conspiracy in the Christmas light industry to ensure that you must buy new lights every year. GRRRR!

Hope your Tuesday is full of good smells and working lights!

The Monday-ist Monday, November 27

The Monday-ist Monday, November 27

Why is it that the Monday after a nice long weekend is even more Monday than usual? That is what my Monday is looking like, my list is long, and I feel like time is not on my side today!

We had an awesome weekend with lots of good things to eat. Okay, perhaps too many days of lots of good things to eat!

We watched some football that was sad and some football that was glad.

We even got the outside lights up, even if Steve a certain someone grumbled the entire time!

And, Frosty is back in town!

I hope your Monday is going smoothly!
