The colors of my world…

The colors of my world…

Hello everyone, a big thank you if you are still here reading this post! All has been quiet here recently with work and life consuming my waking hours. In the world where I work yard maintenance is king and the “grass season” officially began on April 1 and trust me when I say that the coincidence of that and April fool’s day is not lost on me.

Why, you might ask? Well, it ushers in the event of 12-hour workdays, beginning at five o’clock in the morning. Which means rising at the ungodly hour of 3:30AM.

I had been enjoying seeing sunrises as I got up to start my day. Now, I am up long before the sun is. Not quite the way is should work, but the pay is a bonus. 60-hour workweeks make for a nice paycheck!

Anyways, here is a recent sunrise and sunset.

Frosty sunrise….

Have a great week everyone!

I, like many others, ventured out last night to witness the “huge moon” phenomenon! A perigee moon is quite a sight to see.

I was, it seems, moon-struck!

I even was able to take a photo or two with the camera the kids got me for Christmas.

Hope you all enjoyed the view in your corner of the world.

I have long been in search of the perfect bread recipe and, Gentle Reader; I have finally found it! The recipe comes from The Red Spoon – and it is incredibly simple.

Winter is wreaking havoc here in my little corner of the world. When I woke up this morning, the air temperature was about 10 below.

It has managed to inch its way up to 16 out, not quite a heat wave, but at least it is working in the right direction!

Up next, a big bowl of homemade split pea soup and some fresh, hot, homemade crusty bread.

If it cannot be warm outside, at least I will be warm inside.

Life in the Cross-hairs

Bigotry [big-uh-tree] – noun – (the) stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one’s own.

“When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous, and unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry.” – Clarence Dupnik, Pima County Sherriff.

I am shocked, stunned, and heart-broken at the events that transpired yesterday in Tucson, Arizona, as should every single American.

So how did we come to this place – a place in which we believe there is nothing wrong with putting a map on your website with cross-hairs on the political opponents you would like to see eliminated or where an elected official can tell their constituents that she wants them “armed and dangerous?”
