In the face of the senseless tragedy, the words of Mr. Rogers echo in my mind, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'”
Be a helper to those around you today.

Soup's On

Soup's On

It was had a fabulous year at our farmer’s market and add to that the abundance that was our garden this year and that makes lots of good food!

Sadly, Saturday was the last day our favorite farmer will be at the market  and we will miss him but look forward to June when he will be back at the market again! However, over the past weeks, I have been stocking up on winter squash, pumpkins, onions, and garlic. We were gifted a huge bag of apples, which will be cooked this week. However, the big winner was the 50 lbs. of potatoes that we got for practically nothing.

Yes, you read that right – 50 pounds – which is A LOT of potatoes…

So Much Busyness

So Much Busyness

Women derive a pleasure, incomprehensible to the other sex, from the delicate toil of the needle. ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter

It has been a few weeks since I have checked in here, but trust me I have been busy. Ever since discovering the wonder that is 100 Acts of Sewing, I have been busy stitching up an assortment of Dress No. 2 frocks and one Dress No. 3 are completed. I am seriously in love with them, so much so I now have three tunic-style frocks from the Dress No 2 pattern, one lovely linen dress with some divine linen I got here. IN ADDITION, I have a lovely linen/cotton blend Dress No. 3. The madness has not yet stopped and I have some more ideas percolating in my brain for future projects.

A Grandbaby’s a ‘Comin

A Grandbaby’s a ‘Comin

In a few short weeks, my first grand baby will be here and I could not be more excited. As you can imagine, I have been doing some knitting for this little one. It was a pleasant task to knit my favorite baby sweater pattern – EZ’s Baby Surprise Jacket for my first grand baby! I think it turned out beautifully and it will get some use before she grows, as it is chilly at night in Northern Michigan. I made a pair of Saartje’s Booties and a rolled brim hat with the remainder of the skein. I am eager to head to Michigan tomorrow to spend some time with my daughter, attend her baby shower, and enjoy all things baby for a few days.
