A Meal in a Squash

A Meal in a Squash

Some months ago, as the local farmer’s market was winding down and autumn vegetables were abundant, we got quite a few acorn squash which have been waiting patiently in my cold cellar for their moment to shine. The weather has not cooperated, but it got very cold this week!

Start your ovens kind of weather!

Eat comfort foods kind of weather!

Short in stature

Short in stature

But big on taste!

I have had little to no success with “tender” breads, outside of rolls, but when I saw this recipe in the Sunday Recipe Roundup I decided to give it a try.

What it lacks in stature does not hinder the taste or texture.

Bonus in that I know where my problem lies and have ordered new yeast to solve it!

It’s a Marshmallow World

The marshmallows are done, bring on the Christmas!

Because…

There is nothing better than homemade marshmallows atop a warm cup of chocolate on Christmas morning.

Happy Christmas, Gentle Reader!

On the Monday before Christmas

On the Monday before Christmas

Monday’s arrival was inevitable despite a weekend of fun that included seeing the new Star Wars movie (which, by the way, was fantastic), mailing packages off to the kids for Christmas, doing a bit of shopping, and warping my loom for a new weaving project.

The weekend also included some delicious Roasted Poblano Corn Chowder. So good and easy, made even better by the use of ingredients I preserved!

My list for today includes things from the mundane task of laundry to the making a new (and exotic) chicken recipe for dinner, with a bit of weaving and some knitting thrown in for good measure.

Hope your Monday is painless!
