Eye Candy Friday | 4..26.19

The morning greeted me with gentle spring rains and the sounds and smells are wonderful. On Sherman’s very short walk this morning I thought about how much I love the quiet beauty that spring brings – a mix of warm and cool days, more sunshine, and yes – even days of rain are welcome! Overnight more things have begun to green up, it is truly a feast for my eyes. And, I think the birds are as happy as I am about the rain today. In the back yard this morning the robins were busy cocking their heads to listen and finding success over and over and over.

And, this year is the first year that I could cut some blooms from my lilac. They are a treat for my eyes and my nose!

I am taking a bit of a break for the next two weeks and am unsure how much I will be posting, but there will absolutely be Unraveled Wednesday posts. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and that your weekend is full of the beauty that is spring.

Weekending | 4.15.19

Weekending | 4.15.19

Monday’s are never fun, but when Monday and Tax Day fall on The.Same.Day. Well, that should just be against the law, imo!

Happy Tax-Monday…NOT!

So, rather than dwell on the Monday-est Monday ever – let’s rewind the weekend a bit, shall we?

Friday, I managed to get a good bit of knitting done on my sweater, but it did not get anymore “knit time” during the weekend except for a few brief moments on Sunday. Still – borrowing a great idea from a brilliant blogger – I have visible progress! Woo hoo!

Happy hour was fantastic – martini’s with bleu cheese stuffed olives are simply divine! And, the meatballs were not bad either! Haha!

Saturday, oh Saturday… we wondered if Janoski’s might have asparagus in – but alas, it is still a couple of weeks out. So, back to the task of the day… taming the back yard. It took most of the day, but not as long as either of us imagined… which was a good thing. Steve grilled burgers for dinner (which as also a good thing!) Now, here is where our age factor showed up – by 6PM I was MORE than ready for bed – as was Steve. I wish I was kidding… but sometimes reality bites…and early bedtimes are a must! Haha!

Sunday brought rains and Palm Sunday church was wonderful as was the pedicure after church! Remind me to do that next year the day after “Back Yard Clean Up” because that massage chair… oh yeah! The day rounded out with a jump start on laundry, a wee bit of knitting, and omelets for dinner.

The perfect, and simple, ending to a too short weekend!

How about you? How was your weekend?

Sometimes Monday | 4.8.19

Sometimes Monday | 4.8.19

Begin with unedited Words of Now…

Lenten devotions, still. Stillness. Meditating. Listening…hard. Open windows and cool breezes. Bird songs and snoring dog. The smell of spring rain. The hint of leaves that overnight burst into reality. Iced coffee. Pilates and a walk. A full week. Planning and list making. Transplanting seedlings. Hallelujah Chorus practicing. Never ending laundry. Knitting. And taxes. Oh, those taxes. TODAY!

What are your Words of Now as you begin the week?

Hello, April | 4.1.19

Hello, April | 4.1.19

The weekend was full of all kinds of selfish pursuits! There was sewing and reading (and not one stitch of knitting! What??? Really, not one single stitch!)

Perhaps the best thing was this lovely little dress for Genevieve!

But, today these words are filling my mind, the absolute truth of them echoing in my head!

“The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You’re one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
a cloud come over the sunlit arch,
And wind comes off a frozen peak,
And, you’re two months back in the middle of March.”

– Robert Frost, Two Tramps in Mud Time, 1926

So, silently I welcome April – hoping to not encourage the clouds and wind to blow us back into March!

Oh, Monday | 3.25.19

Oh, Monday | 3.25.19

Sometimes there are no words for Monday, but there are plenty of words to read.

I love these little interviews that The Guardian does!

Is Valium the new Soma?

Posthumous James Baldwin makes me want to read all his essays!

Hey, Kym! I think your Bunnies need some friends! (Psst, here are some Ready to Knit Kits)

This is a genius idea, and to start with French.Onion.Soup is brilliant!

Wait, what? Alcohol without the alcohol

P.S. We had a rough weekend around my house – a grand-dog crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The tears have flowed heavily and consoling a 3-year-old who loves her Dolly seems impossible. And, my poor daughter has put her grief aside to comfort Genevieve – but it was just Heidi and Dolly for a long, long time.

If you could send some good thoughts (and prayers if you are so inclined) to my daughter today – they would be greatly appreciated.
