…looks ambitious!

The weekend reprieve from the crazy heat was most welcome, and while the heat is returning later today, this morning is cool and lovely outside. Perfect to sit outside under the pergola and knit and that is just what I am going to do! That’s right…my Day Two of the Beekeeper KAL is today!

My goal is to get past the sleeve divide and a good bit of the body done… ambitious, I know!

How does your Monday look?

Is there anything better than a long summer weekend? I don’t think so and we certainly made the most of it this weekend.

There was a visit to our local farmers markets where we picked up some cucumbers for pickling and more strawberries to make more jam. And, yes – pickles and jam were made!

There were good foods eaten, a cocktail or two sipped, and some time spent just enjoying the warm weather!

The weekend was even rounded out with some knitting and reading!

All that makes Monday easier to face and I am more than ready to tackle what will be a very busy week!

How about you? Did you have a good weekend?

It was one of those weekends that moved at warp speed, and before we knew it Sunday night was upon us with a new week was looming on the horizon.

I did manage to finish my Eavesdrop Sweater…tee-shirt on Friday night! Woo! That means it got a nice wash and a bit of blocking and I wore it on Sunday! I really like it and I love the yarn! Sparrow is lovely yarn to make a garment with. The only thing I have to say at all with even a hint of negativity is that it biases a bit, thus the blocking. The Sparrow washes up beautifully – it is soft and drapey, but not at all clingy and it is perfect for a summer tee! Glamor shots coming later this week, so stay tuned.

When I took pictures on Sunday afternoon, I was just about ready to begin the ribbing and bind off the Beekeeper Cowl – all I have left to do is pick up the button bands on the sides and find some buttons to sew on! It is an easy knit – a very easy pattern which made for some nice mindless knitting over the weekend. There are 2 size options, and I made the larger size. I see more Beekeeper Cowl knitting in my future which will give me a nice jump on some Christmas gift knitting!

And, I managed to swatch and cast on for another Vodka Lemonade…And, yes… the summer theme of “orange knitting” continues!

Lots of time spent outdoors this weekend – despite the crazy heat. I dragged Steve out to the patio to sit under the pergola for happy hour eats on Friday and he survived. No mixed drinks this weekend, but rather a nice cold home-brewed beer really hit the spot and it was the perfect kick off of the weekend.

The forecast this week is summer weather on steroids – hot weather and very little rain. Which means walking early and keeping the garden watered! If you are sharing in the hot weather, here is to working air conditioning and lots of iced tea!

I hope you all had a great weekend and happy Monday everyone!

Sometimes a closer inspection reveals beautiful detail like my feeble macro attempts with the big camera this weekend, although there was a small Cabbage White butterfly that kindly volunteered for me!

And, sometimes a closer inspection reveals nothing new, just the same old, same old. But, sometimes that same old is just the thing you need, amirite? That was my weekend…same old perfected!

I did manage to drag Steve outside for an al fresco happy hour with Toronto cocktails to celebrate Canada as they hosted the G7 err G6. The changes I made to this most excellent cocktail were as follows: I substituted Amaro for the Fernet Branca and I used orange bitters since I did not have an orange. Oh, and I used Crown Royal! It was excellent!

The cooler temperatures of the week gave way to heat and humidity on the weekend, so weeding a bit on Saturday proved to be a very good workout! Sadly, I have no pictures, but trust me when I say that the garden is growing well!

Sunday was a day of a whole lotta nothin’, which was just perfect, and I managed to fill the time with a good bit of knitting! I have about 6 inches to go on my Eavesdrop and it feels like the end is near!

I hope your weekend was full of good things too!
