Long Weekending

Long Weekending

That’s right, the weekend carries on one more day. Thus far it has been a very good weekend with lots of replenishment time!

And, with no plumbing or equally un-fun tasks!

There was Olympic watching and yes, knitting – lots of knitting! I have to say, I just LOVE how these decreases look. I can’t wait to finish it. I only have about 10 rows to go, so I can see the finish line. I also confess, I have become addicted to watching Curling – especially the Norwegian Men’s Pants, err Team! Haha!

Today, the weather is supposed to be warmer and we are hoping for some dry moments to get in a nice walk!

If you have a long weekend as well, I hope you are enjoying it! See you all back here tomorrow!

Sometimes Monday | 2.12.18

Comes too darned fast! (And, looks like a budding sweater and, I need to add dust the blinds to my list! Haha)

I don’t know about you, but my weekend sort of flew by and not in at all a pleasant way.

Saturday, someone (not me) had the brilliant idea to replace the faucet in the kitchen….

Five plus hours later found us with no new faucet, lots of bad words, and can I tell you that I have some new crazy respect for plumbers who can lay in a cabinet to fix things.

Five plus hours that I could have been watching the Olympics and knitting.

Enter Sunday which was moving almost as fast as the Free Style Cross Country Skiers. And, again I am sitting here wondering where my knitting time went!!!

I am over the halfway point of the body of my Carbeth and all my plans for speeding through this knit are going up in smoke, sort of like my weekend! That’s right, in the brief moments I found to knit this weekend produced 10 inches of knitting!

This morning added to the ironic quality of the un-weekend, after yesterdays warm rains, today we woke to 8-ish inches of snow and Steve has another “snow day”. And, on a morning that I had NOTHING on my list but some quality time with the DVR and my knitting.

I hope your weekend was infinitely better than mine and that your Monday is full of only things that make you happy!

Sometimes Monday’s should come with a nap

Sometimes Monday’s should come with a nap

Last night was a light on sleep night here at Casa del KatKnits! The game was actually a game and we watched it to the end! I thought the commercials were not all that super and the sound at the halftime show was, well, poor sounding. I am not sure what they did to make it even harder to hear, but they absolutely succeeded! And, it was extra special when the underdog won the game! Congrats to the Eagles for this momentous win!

It was a good weekend for knitting, and I am making great strides on my Strokkur. I am almost through the waist decreases. It is just simple round and round knitting right now, so I don’t need to pay much attention.

I also have completed clue 1 on KK’s Mystery Socks! And, I like them thus far! Very much!

In my sleep deprived state today, my list is happily short on things and it might even include a bit of a nap this afternoon!

I hope your Monday is short and if it cannot be that it is full of good things!

Yay, Monday?

Yay, Monday?

It was a full weekend that perhaps went just a bit too fast.

But, Stopover is done – save weaving in ends and just in time for the return of winter tonight!

I had planned on swatching for Strokkur over the weekend, but I outside of finishing Stopover, I barely knit. I know, what is up with that?

I might have entirely lost my mind, but I am going to join team rules schmules and do a little Olympic knitting, because a sweater and socks are not enough. Hahaha!

Fortunately, my list is not overwhelming today and includes finishing slipper number 2, weaving in ends, and swatching!

I hope you have a happy Monday and I am wondering what is on your list today?

An Energized Monday

An Energized Monday

It was a fly by weekend here and I am hoping this week moves at the same clip.

Friday Happy Hour was extra special with a couple of Blood Orange martini’s (super simple: Gin and Blood Orange juice in a 2-1 ratio and these were so good they got a replay on Sunday for football!). I do so love January citrus! I also laughed at the email from IKEA with an appetizer recipe. Thanks, IKEA! FYI, plain yogurt is an excellent sub for sour cream.

Saturday, the big thaw kicked into high gear and I spent much of the day doing Swedish Death Cleaning while listening to Behold the Dreamers. This cleaning unearthed some well-aged WIP’s. Some have moved into the knitting rotation to be finished and others have been frogged. All this cleaning made a space for my floor loom to move to my office/craft room. I also started a little birthday knitting for daughter number one, which I need to kick into high gear and get done this week!!

I also pulled out a couple of skeins of yarn that might work for Kirsten’s Mystery socks. I am contemplating red and green… and the red should be really winning for February sock knitting, the yarn is 100% wool, so I don’t think it will wear well at all. Have any of you ever knit socks with 100% superwash merino? If so, how did they wear? And, thanks in advance for sharing your tips!

Sunday, I really wanted to head down to Pittsburgh and join the Woman’s March, but prior commitments kept me from doing so, however, the sunset was appropriately pink!

On my list for today: some intensive death cleaning of the overflowing kitchen junk drawer and then some birthday knitting!

Happy Monday, everyone!
