A Few of My Favorite Things

A Few of My Favorite Things

In this week’s 10 on Tuesday prompt, Carole sets for us this urgent task:

List 10 of Your Favorite Things Right Now

Well, this very minute here are a few of my favorite things!

  • My Bialetti Moka pot – every day this is my favorite thing, but looking back on how much money I have saved by not buying coffee because of this little pot, it deserves first place my list. Yes, it is better than Starbucks, by a LONG shot!
  • Weaving – I really have my weaving groove on and I hope this continues for a good long while!
  • My daily journal routine – I know I have said this before, but it really helps me focus my day and increase my productivity and creativity!
  • Which sort of goes hand in hand with yoga – if I miss I day, I really can tell. I really love the quiet intensity that it brings to my life.
  • Konmari, oh how I love thee! The process is slow, but steady. Thoughtful Reduction of Stuff is happening and last week, some items found a new home and were happily sent on their way!
  • Garden planning – revisiting what worked well and what did not work well.
  • The discovery of London Fog Tea Latte via Pinterest, me and my afternoon think they are pretty darn amazing!
  • Singing in my church choir, especially with Easter coming – best music of the year, just sayin’!
  • Our Sonos speakers. Best. Thing. Ever.
  • And, finally – Sherman, although he is my favorite all the time, but most especially right now! From how happy he is to see me when he wakes up (which is hilarious because he sleeps in the same room!), to him moving his bed to be directly next to me when I am working. He is my comic relief – daily.

There you have it, Gentle Reader, a few of my favorite things.

Rescue Me

Rescue Me

Carole sure knows how to relieve the Winter Doldrums with this week’s 10 on Tuesday:

You’ve been kidnapped! List the 10 TV show characters you would want to help you.

Well, you know this is bound to be loads of fun!

Also, bonus in that if you are still working feverishly to #bangoutasweater queue up any of these and you will be finished in no time!

Here is my Come Save Me and Quick list:

  1. Harry Pearce and his MI-5 Team – I am pretty sure they can get anyone out of anything!
  2. Detective Inspector Alec Hardy and Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller – are both excellent at solving difficult crimes, even ones that happen in their own homes!
  3. Kurt Wallander – and he can bring something to drink! Although I loved the BBC version also!
  4. Vera – because Ann Cleeves…
  5. Sherlock, yes please!
  6. Foyle would make complete sense out of everything!
  7. Luther, in case you need to walk the fine line between legal and not…
  8. Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison for her dogged determination
  9. DCI Banks for his stubborn tenacity
  10. George Gently, because sometimes old school is the best!

Anyone on this list would get the job done! Also, if you are looking for a recommendation for viewing this list is it!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Those Replay Moments

Those Replay Moments

This week, in honor of Ground Hog Day (the movie?? the holiday??), Carole has set us an interesting task:

10 Moments/Events/Days In Your Life You’d Like To Repeat

Well, I can assure you that even though there are PLENTY of days that I wish never happened, there are some that I would relive every. single. day.

  1. The “Younger Kids Days” – though I am sure that the reality was more hectic but my memories tell me these were truly simpler days. Now we are scattered all over but, oh to be back here with the replay button.
  2. Though she has been gone almost 23 years – not a day goes by that I do not think about my Nana. I miss her terribly and wish I had written down more things she talked about.
  3. The days of “Good Night’s Sleep” before insomnia rudely arrived on the scene. Which goes hand in hand with…
  4. …Those days of boundless energy when the task list was much longer but could get done much quicker!
  5. The days of younger eyes – although I do so love reading on my Kindle or iPad where I can make the font larger. It was much nicer to be able to pick up any book, regardless of font size, and read it!
  6. My first trip to Scotland, I will never forget the first view of Edinburgh Castle. I have been back only once, but it remains one of my favorite places ever.
  7. Canoeing the Big Two Hearted River – yes that Big Two Hearted River.

  8. Reading Charlotte’s Web to my children – a chapter or two at night, just before bed. Exactly like my mother did so many years before, and experiencing it all over through their eyes.
  9. The very first “Sleep Over at a Fiber Shop” at the shop Beth owned in Howell, MI. So much fun! I was fortunate to have this experience twice, but would jump at another opportunity!
  10. Lunch with Jillian last Saturday. However, if this was a weekly occurrence, life would be so very good!

There you have it, Gentle Reader, my list of replay days!

Have a great Ground Hog Day!

With Service to Others

With Service to Others

Carole gives is a challenging task for this week’s 10 on Tuesday:

10 Things You Can Do To Serve Others

I spent some time yesterday pondering this and wanted to address this not from the things I am currently doing, but rather from the idea that there are things I could/should be doing that I am not.

So, with self-improvement in mind, I present my list of 10 things I should be doing to serve others:

A kinder, gentler attitude that is

less critical,

and less frustrated.

One that is not participating in gossipy conversation and

not playing the “one up” game – no one likes a laundry list of all the things you did.

Being more of a “Doer” and less of a “Sayer” and

actively listening to those around me and

to not take everything that is said so personally.

Realizing and accepting that my way is not the only way and

not expecting anything in return, ever.

This is a tough list and one that won’t be perfected overnight, but I am hoping that in this year of focusing on gratitude that I will find these things have become an integral part of me as the year draws to a close.
