Is still the weekend, at least for some of us… I find it curious that Steve does not have MLK Day off but he does President’s Day…

Anyway, it was a good weekend, one with tulips for Valentine’s Day and, thanks to Sarah’s Saturday release, a new sock was started (and holy cow, look how much I knit on said sock on a size ONE needle!!) This yarn has been marinating in my stash for more than a decade, but I think it was waiting for these socks! It is perfect!

A frosty start, but we have blue skies!

Today, more sock knitting as I watch something on Netflix that my son, Sam, told me is MUST WATCH TV (which is rare for him, so I am starting today!)

I also made the most delicious pot of soup, which will be most convenient today as I binge a bit! Steve is off to spend the day at the Pittsburgh Auto Show, so I don’t have to “make a new meal” lol

I hope your Monday is full of good things! (and over quickly if you must work!) XO

Weekending | 2.3.20

Weekending | 2.3.20

I have not done one of these posts in ages, but we actually did some things worth discussing over the weekend!

Adderley’s and Spanish Tapas

We started Friday with the usual eats and a really good sip and then we I caught up on last week’s Seven Worlds, One Planet on BBC America.

Saturday meant a trip to the Post Office so I could get my daughter’s hat on its way and, in the afternoon, we visited Spoonwood Brewing Co and tasted some of their new brews! We also took a growler home for our very quiet Super Bowl Celebration.

Grumpy Face Sherman did not see his shadow either. He wonders where are the fireworks for him!?

Sunday, as I am sure you all heard, Punxsatawny Phil did not see his shadow and neither did Sherman. Yep, we started out with not one lick of sunshine here in the ‘Burgh, BUT!! I headed off to church in the snow and gloom and when I left one short hour later, I was greeted by BLUE SKIES and, yes, SUNSHINE!! And, a day that started with a dusting of snow ended at 52˚F. Only in Pittsburgh, I am telling you, lol.

We are ready for some football!

We took the easy route with our Super Bowl eats, some Buffalo Wings and some left over Pierogi Pie (which is seriously to die for!!) and a glass or two of beer. We laughed at some of the commercials, I cried over one, and we were scratching our heads at a show all about Lego building blocks… say what? But really…how has Bubble Butt, err YoGlutes never been a thing before now??? Also, that Half Time Show was so good!

However, those clear skies stayed for the remainder of the day and when I took Sherman out for his evening constitutional, I was greeted by the moon and lots of stars (and it was still so warm out!) It looks like we will have more sunshine today with our forecast hinting at a high of 60˚F! I don’t think Phil meant an immediate return to spring, but maybe?

A weekend that welcomed February in the best way and now I might be off to find some Pretzel Pop Tarts! How was your weekend?

Quiet Weekending | 11.25.19

Quiet Weekending | 11.25.19

It was a quiet weekend trying to cure my cough/cold and my only trek out was to the post office bright and early on Saturday to mail Genevieve an advent calendar.

Friday, the monumental task of cleaning out the refrigerator was gleefully crossed off my list! All shelves and drawers removed, washed out, dried, and replaced. Food replaced in a more organized fashion. I even gave Steve a quick “tour” to try and eliminate the “I don’t know where X is” discussions! It worked, sort of… lol

Friday night I settled in to cast on Tsé Biníi doo Headband. I had an issue with “color dominance” that made me rip back the first few rows of color work, but I got back on track quickly – and with the white stitches popping nicely. I loved it so much that on Sunday afternoon I started a second in more muted shades. I am hopeful that I will get this done today as I will have time to knit in between working on the daunting (and overflowing) laundry pile.

After my outing, I spent much of the remainder of the day camped out on the sofa watching a bit of The Man in the High Castle and then some winning Michigan football.

Sunday brought another helping of the previous day, sans Michigan football, but with a surprise photo from my daughter. I love this picture so much – and I could see her mother doing that very same thing so many years ago in my minds eye.

And that after that quiet weekend, I am feeling much better and ready to get things organized for Thanksgiving!

I will be back tomorrow to join Julianne in sharing my word update! Happy Monday all!

Mid-October Weekending

Mid-October Weekending

I am so glad that I live in a world where there are Octobers. – L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

It was a perfect October weekend. One that included a trip to our farmer’s market, glorious blue skies, and yes – even a pumpkin donut! I also made a big pot of chili on Sunday.

And, while there were no new yarn acquisitions – I am going to take Mary’s advice on bracelet-length sleeves and so Tegna sleeve knitting has begun in earnest. Why, I even managed to rip out (literally) the too loose neck edge and reknit it with the correct sized needles!

I also made some progress on my Aisé and I am very happy with how it looks. The sparkle in the kidsilk yarn is not at all overwhelming but I am not sure how well it shows up in a photograph.

However, today I can no longer ignore the sweater that I need to seam up for a friend and there will be no knitting until that is completed! And, once that is done this cake is next on my agenda!

What does your Monday include?

Sometimes Monday | 10.14.19

Comes on the heels of a lovely, quiet, solo weekend!

Sadly, Steve had to work all weekend so what was a girl to do but get in some major knitting time and I made some impressive headway on my Tegna! The back is finished and I am moving right along on the front and with any luck, I will have it done this week. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you are focused!

I hope you all had as wonderful a weekend as I did – I am well rested and very ready for all this week holds!

Happy Monday all!
