In the coming hours and days, we’ll learn about the victims of this tragedy. Their names. Their faces. Who they were. The joy that they brought to families and to friends, and the difference that they made in this world. Say a prayer for them and say a prayer for their families — that God give them the strength to bear the unbearable. And that He give us all the strength to be there for them, and the strength and courage to change. We need to demonstrate that we are defined more — as a country — by the way they lived their lives than by the hate of the man who took them from us. – President Obama’s on the Orlando Shooting
On a Monday where I will be challenged to find anything at all that I can be grateful for; these words give me strength. I pray they give you strength today, as well.
Orlando, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for these words of comfort and hope in this very dark [another] time in our national life. Perhaps one day there will be goodwill among men, tho’ I have serious doubts…
I thought enough was more than enough after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, but there have been far too many since then. I’m ashamed of a country and culture where things like this can and do happen, and worse yet, become the norm. I pray we gain the strength to stop this – now, but like Honore´, I have serious doubts.
Sob. Mass shooting as so common they rarely make the news (unless they’re horrendous). When will love win? How? sob
I wish I had answers but I don’t. We could start by banning high capacity clips, though. I mean, it’s a no brainer. And yet, nothing changes and people die.
I am heartbroken. This is just . . . too much.
