It was a bitterly cold weekend here in the ‘Burgh and my new slippers came in very handy during the weekend of couch residency with knitting in hand.
I started swatching and I am not certain if I got gauge yet (swatch drying is in process) but I really love the yarn. It is very nice and I think it will be an excellent choice for a sweater – and it is not overly processed and there is a faint sheepy aroma and a slight feel of lanolin which is not at all unpleasant in the knitting process. I am expecting the yarn to bloom considerably in washing so it will be interesting to see how much gauge changes pre-wash and post-washing.
I also got back to sleeves on Rock Island – I got a good bit of it done watching a few episodes of season two of The Man in the High Castle. I was having a bit of a panic about not having enough yarn to finish the sweater, but those fears are subsiding a bit for the moment. I have about 4 inches to go on sleeve one and I think I will easily get sleeve two done with leftovers!
I am finding it a challenge to get back on track with my diet – it seems that a couple of weeks of sugar intake has woken my sweet tooth. I am going to try to ignore the sweet cravings this morning, which should make Monday even more amazing than it usually is!
That is all I have for today – if you are blanketed in snow and bitterly cold weather – stay warm and I hope your Monday is gentle! Mine should be – at least I am appropriately attired for it!
How was your weekend?
Very cute (and PRACTICAL)slippers!
Although we have no real snow (it’s coming overnight) it is ridiculously cold. I would have loved to stay home and knit, but alas, my paying job called. LOL
Cute slippers. I spent my week d on the couch, comp,Evelyn knocked out with a head cold and painful sinuses. A little bit of simple knitting, some easy reading, md a lot of napping.
My diet is messed up too. I am thinking of starting a weekly kitchen wellness post to give me som accountability.
oh man do I hear you about the sugar. Such a slippery slope–and I am waaay down it.
Rock Island looks great. So do the slippers! Very hygge-ly.
Love your slippers! Cold in Eastern PA as well…wicked wind chills. Glad you were able to stay in.
Cozy slippers just make winter all the more manageable! We went from several inches of snow, and bitter temperature, to 50 degrees (south winds) and flooding. Winter is crazy!
I love your slippers! And from the sneak peek of that sweater I predict I will love that, too. Super cold here today but a warm up is predicted by mid week. Hooray!
Love the slippers! I just hate that panicky feeling when you’re not quite sure you’ve got enough yarn. (And I’m one of those knitters who, far too often, does NOT have enough.) I definitely woke my sweet tooth over the holidays! I did a bit of a detox “diet” (via Cooking Light; they have a very good 3-day detox menu). Now that I’ve knocked out sugar, I’m going to try to keep it that way!
I spent the bulk of the weekend inside also, knitting, reading, watching some things on TV, and sadly, coughing and blowing my nose too much.
But I also got some things done, and by last night felt like it wasn’t a total washout.
Your slippers look incredibly cozy!
My grandfather used to tell me that there was no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing, and while I’m not sure that’s true, your slippers are wonderfully, cozily appropriate for a cold winter weekend. And this sugar thing – I guess I should stop eating the Hershey kisses I stupidly bought for the candy dish. At least I’ve resisted buying the Valentine’s chocolate kisses (so far).
oh those slippers are fun! and yay for getting back to sleeve island on your sweater. I started back on mine too. sleeve island is even more of a slog when you have to drag the whole sweater along with you, isn’t it? (and that’s just sleeve #1 – ugh… can we knit a one-sleeved sweater?!)
Right-on. Those extra sweets do something to the brain! I have been fighting the urge to bake cookies.
Knitting is so comfy in January. One can hibernate, daydream, listen to audio books, and/or drink lots of (chai) tea while being creative with yarn+sticks . . . what could be better than that?
Oh, I *LOVE* those slippers! My holidays (+/-) overindulgence and sweet tooth sent me straight to Weight Watchers!! I’m embarking on Week 2 a few pounds lighter, and getting used to tracking again (so important for me!).
Fun slippers…so nice they’re also toasty warm, especially with these days’ frigid temps. Guess you’ll just have to exercise your “won’t powers.” Repeat after me…” I won’t eat sugary foods…”
Oh my sweet tooth is definitely crying out every time I’m near the cookies (still have them…). Lovely slippers and that sweater is gorgeous!!
