I am immersed in the Month of Letters and enjoying every moment. I have gotten letters from dear friends and letters from new friends! Every moment has been so much fun.
I have written letters, postcards, and even birthday cards!
But, I have not done blog letters in quite some time – so today is your lucky day!!
So, let’s get to the mailbag…
Dear Senators Mc Cain and Graham,
I would like to take a moment to thank you for standing up for a free press (although, why this is even a thing is beyond me)
Good reminders from you both last week on the importance of the press being free, adversarial and worth dying for.
Now, I would like you to focus some of your attention on the importance of education so that we are no longer a nation that cannot discern fact from fiction.
Sincerely,
A Believer in the Fourth Estate
Dear Mother Nature,
I am not sure what is up, but you do realize that it is February, not April or May right?
Because, it is still winter for a few more weeks not to mention you are making Punxsutawney Phil look bad.
Oh, and in case you are thinking winter in April would be a fabulous joke – I promise you I won’t be laughing!
Signed,
A Global Warming Believer
Dear Bathroom Scale,
For months you have been giving me such great encouragement. It was almost as if you were cheering me on in my change in eating and exercise habits.
However, the past couple of weeks you and I have seemed to hit a wall. The encouragement has stopped and we seem to be at a standstill.
As in an actual standstill… a holding pattern… maintaining status quo…
I promise you I did not call a halt to our journey!
Sincerely,
Seeking Losses
Dear Hitchhiker Scarf,
I know that I have not knit you – ever. And, that is truly an error in my judgement.
However, the urge to cast you on has been increasing almost daily.
Except, I have these other projects going and this infatuation I have with you is not a good thing.
All these amazing photos of you on Ravelry is not helping either.
I am not sure how much longer I can resist…
Love,
Infatuated and Trying to Resist
That’s all I have today – I hope you have a great Tuesday and maybe write a letter – it is good for you!
I, too, have not succumbed to the Hitchhiker madness…YET. I actually have yarn (imagine THAT!) to make one (or more?) from Smooshy with Cashemere!!! I am smelling my next project perhaps?
Dear Kat,
Resistance is futile. Grab your Smooshy and needles and come join us. It’s the easiest, most fun knitting you can do while Netflixing or listening to an audiobook. You can customize your Hitchhiker with yarn-overs, beads, or knit your first one without any mods. We say first one because plenty of people have become enthralled/obsessed with us and feel compelled to knit more than one. Use the stitch marker trick to keep track of your rows and you’ll be on your 42nd tooth (or more) in no time. Come on, you know you want to cast on those first two stitches …

Great letters! And thank you very much for the real one I received in the mail the other day.
Why resist the Hitchhiker? It’s fun, it’s fun to wear, and it’s calling yoooouuuu…
Love your letter to McCain. He is proving once again that he is a patriot first. I have been a failure at MoL, but I have been answering any letters I receive (and writing here and there to other friends).
I’ve never knit a Hitchhiker, either! I have Leftie in my library, and have for probably a couple of years now, but have yet to cast on. I’m always the last person on the bandwagon!
No Hitchhiker here yet, either. (La-la-la-la-la; I’m not listening. . . ) Love your letters!
Very sweet!
I used to write tons and tons of letters. I should have been born in Victorian times.
This would be a great exercise for students — but I don’t teach writing!
Hitchhiker virgin here, too! (despite all the encouragement Bonny has provided over the years!) Thank you for another letter – I haven’t opened it (saving that treat for once I’ve made a little progress on “catching up” around here). And please do tell – what kind of pen/ink do you use? Maybe nicer tools would encourage better penmanship?
I haven’t knit the hitchhiker either….maybe one day. maybe. Love your letters 🙂
I think the reason I’ve never knit a hitchhiker is because, apparently, no one can knit just one… it seems like a bit of a rabbit hole!! Haha.
