Happy Friday? Yeah, I am not so sure with all the SNOW that we got last night. Oy vey. The warmth of the week has abruptly ended and it is back to hats, mittens, socks, and sweaters here! I am thankful that the snow blanketed everything to protect it from the bitter cold that is forecast for later this weekend. Fun times, I am telling you!
Now, how about some diverting links?
- Romi’s Mystery Shawl 2017 – I am really tempted to join in with this. I will be tossing my stash this morning to see what I might have that would work! Who’s interested in joining me?
- Stormy Sky Shawl – I love the simplicity of this pattern, and the suggestion of using a special skein of yarn for it is brilliant. I might just have one that would work…(also FREE!)
- Linen Noir is perfect for the thoughts of summer dancing in my head!
- These Kissing Cousin Socks are GENIUS! Really… oh.my.gosh. Genius!
- Isabel Kraemer’s Aileas… perfect timing for this sucky weather!
- Kimono – In theory, I love this…but I think wearing it would be disastrous, at least for klutzy me! Although, this might be perfect for a yarn that you know will pill like mad, because there won’t be many friction points!
- This one is for Carole – something she can knit up with all that gorgeous yarn she spun last weekend!
- Rainbrioche – the name says it all!
- Now, this speaks to the Sheep Rare Breed Lover in me – Coburg Mittens knit from yarn that is 70% German Coburg Fox Sheep with 30% Merino. (You only need one skein…just sayin’) Oh, and in case you have never seen German Coburg Fox Sheep… some sheepy cuteness for you!
Do you get Taproot Magazine? The Weave Issue has two really cute patterns: Quill and Three French Hens (LOVE!!)
And, lastly – a huge Congratulations to Gudrun Johnston for designing the official 2017 Shetland Wool Week ‘Bousta Beanie’ pattern. You can get a free copy of it here.
That is all I have for this week – stay warm and I will see you back here on Monday!
I think your Friday links are the positive thing that will get me through this Friday snow and bipolar weather. (And Fox Sheep!) I’ve already put a couple of skeins of that delicious yarn in my basket while I contemplate shipping costs, and now I’m making the excuse that I deserve this yarn because I’ll be shoveling 4″ of snow today and 9-14″ on Tuesday. Thanks for cheering me up!
Look at the bright side…at least you’ve got power. I am now 2 days without it. I am now worrying about my pipes freezing. It is supposed to be below freezing for then next 4 days. Ugh.
They have given “us” (all 500,000 people lacking power) that 90% of us should be restored by Sunday evening. That’s going to be 2 1/2 more days. Fortunately, I am able to stay at my mom’s house (where there IS power). Unfortunately, she doesn’t know her wifi username. She’s got the password all written down, but her username? Not so much. :/
Stay warm!!!
PS: As always, LOVE the links!!!
That’s a cool way to use handspun, thanks for linking me specially! I wonder if it could be adapted to a cowl, I think I’d like that better than another triangular shawl. And yeah, I feel you on the weather. Ugh.
We had snow Monday and today it is 60. This is a crazy time of year, but I enjoy the push/pull tug’o war going on because I know who will win!! Stay warm and enjoy your crafting time.
Ugh. We have the cold… 22F for the high today. It’ll be warming up over the next week, but v e r y s l o w l y.
Darn it! I still have LAST year’s Romi MKAL on the needles!
Did you see DESCHAIN in that Linen Noir book? LOVE.
And I’m afraid you’re right about Kimono. So tempting. I knit “Cabled Shrug” by Shirley Paden for my mom a few years ago and even made some mods so that it would hug the shoulders more (inspired by the shaping on a cabled tree skirt) and still… it can be worn, but you’d better not move! 😉
The funniest thing to me about this whole weather craziness is if we’d had a normal winter, this snow would be totally normal and we wouldn’t be expecting to ditch our winter coats for at least a couple more weeks. We definitely go spoiled by the unusually warm weather!
Oh what fun links! Bookmarks and printed some new projects. Happy Friday
I thought for sure you’d link this one http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vince-2 – bulky yarn and Amy promises it’s quick (but I know not quick enough for Georgia’s March). I love the Q&Co black linen knits. the last two have really tempted me (and sadly, our shop is sold out of Sparrow in black). Happy Weekend!
We got the cold but not the snow! Looks like a great weekend to stay in and knit! Enjoy…and I hope you get a quick thaw.
Cheers~
Weather craziness abounds, that’s for sure. (March is always kind of like this — but not usually on the heels of the warmest February on record. . . )
Thanks for the links. They are always FUN!
lovely links and I wish I was more into mystery knits but I need to see the finished shawl before embarking. I am just like that. If you do join in, I know you’ll share with us!
