I would love to be able to push a button and go back to Friday. This weekend was one of those weekends that you just don’t want to end. The weather was perfect, including the slow, soaking rains on Sunday! The only “gardening” I have left to do is to fill the containers for the porches and the patio. It would have been nice to get that done over the weekend, but time ran out.
By Saturday morning, the poppies were in full bloom. Their cheery red catches my eye every time I go to the kitchen, and stopping to look at them is the best detour of the day. And, the perfect contrast of petals and the purple center is so stunningly beautiful. As Kym says, flowers are indeed magical.
I worked more on my Book Bingo list, invited a couple more people to join, and then began to work on my “Summer Knitting List” of things I need to finish, and things I want to knit. Both lists will take some dedication to make headway on so, I spent some time looking for audio book options on my Bingo list. I was quite successful at the library which I hope means that my summer knitting and reading will be successful!
I did hit a bump in the road on the KAL knitting project. Pro-tip… dropping a stitch with super slippery yarn (read not wool) is a very bad thing. Not noticing the dropped stitch for half a dozen rows is devastating to the knitting. I tried, unsuccessfully, to pick the stitch up but in the grey light of Sunday afternoon reality spoke clearly in my ear – rip back and start over. Reality is right – this is gift knitting and so I ripped back and will start again today. For the record, I am blaming this incident entirely on the fog that is brought on by allergy medicine. Thanks, Zyrtek… NOT!
I know this should be an “unraveled” story for Wednesday, but I am hoping by Wednesday I am as far as I was pre-mistake-discovery. So, if I could rewind this, I would have not knit this on Saturday and worked on simpler projects with wooly yarn!
And that is all I have for today! How was your weekend?
It was a good weekend for me, too. I finished up another project and got extra time at my wheel. And yesterday was really the perfect day to sit and relax.
No knitting or reading for me!! But, despite that, it was a good weekend filled with family and a wedding…a little too much driving in extremely heavy traffic, but otherwise a wonderful time. Sorry about your unraveling…hope it is going well now.
I enjoyed an entire weekend off from work! 😀
There was quite a bit of knitting, because we had rain Saturday afternoon and evening, and quite a bit on Sunday, until about 3:00. Then it got sunny and nice-ish.
I love your poppies! The colors are always so intense that it’s hard to take photos, but yours is great! As tough as it is sometimes, it’s good to listen when reality speaks clearly. Hopefully you’ll be all un-unraveled by Wednesday!
Those poppies are stunning! here’s to getting back on track and reporting forward progress by Wednesday (it’s never an easy decision to rip, but I feel like it’s almost always the “right” one!)
Gorgeous shot!
Poppies! They’ve always been one of my favorites – yours are beautiful. No knitting for me- a trip to Cape Cod for a visit with friends. Now…power reading for book club on Wed!
Your poppies are amazing!
I love the idea of book bingo, but I am too capricious a reader to take that much direction. I want to read what I want to read at any given moment!
Dropped stitches are so frustrating! I speak from vast experience!
Every single year I intend to plant poppies . . . and then I never do. They are rather short lived in the garden — but so very gorgeous!!! (Magical, indeed.) Sorry to hear about your knitting snafu. Ugh. . . Hope you’re back on track by now. XO
Our weekend was a good one, overall. I’m glad you enjoyed yours so much.
Those poppies are amazing! Nothing like a bright red flower to make you appreciate the outdoors. 🙂
I have one single poppy that grows and blooms every year – I just can’t get it to expand! Yours are lovely.
I managed to accomplish one or two things over the weekend, but I was mostly slayed by a springtime cold!! Thankfully, it’s an extra-long weekend ahead and I’m aiming to catch up!
