I have about 25 rows to go and Ponchetta will be done. Maybe today? Depending on how I do on my list, that is a real possibility for this afternoon!
Up next for knitting? I have some finishes to queue up. Like some charity knitting, Laura Aylor’s Summer Ripples, and a couple of in-process sweaters! I am going to refrain from casting on anything new until after we get back from our visit to Michigan.
And, the reading!
I managed to finish More Home Cooking: A Writer Returns to the Kitchen by Laurie Colwin. I gave this book 5 stars and felt it was even better than Laurie’s first book! But, really – biscuits, butter, and roast chicken…need I say more?!
I have about 3 more hours of listening in The Brutal Telling. I just love Louise Penny’s writing! Each book is more engaging than the last, which is really appreciated and keeps me anxious for the next book in the series. I should have this done today!
I am also reading Paulette Jiles News of the World. I am about halfway through and I really am enjoying it! However, it will go on hold for a brief bit because a seriously long-awaited library hold came through so I am going to be kind to the next person on the list and read Paul Auster’s 4321 quickly!!
Once I get my list for the day under control, you will find me working on those 25 Ponchetta rows. But, don’t feel too bad for me as I tackle my list – Armand Gamache will be keeping me company!
What are you reading this week?

Gamache while you knit sounds just wonderful, along with all the things in your knitting and reading queues! (And now I desperately want biscuits slathered in butter for breakfast!)
Is that Louise Penny book with the new narrator? I listened to one of her books but heard that the man who read it had passed.
I agree with you on Louise Penny, I feel like I’m comfy cosy while reading. My daughter is here (finally) so begins the beginning of a house full. I will be lucky to knit anything these days.
Biscuits, butter, & chicken…yum! I started reading What Happened last night and so far it is very good.
Any day spent with Armand Gamache is a good day!
I think I need to read something. You are amazing. I sometimes feel like reading takes me away from my knitting obsession. I hope your knit finish is a breeze
You’ve got a lot of books in the air! I couldn’t keep that many straight. Read on!
Sigh. I am somewhere in the middle of the last Outlander book. It’s hard to make real progress when I can only manage about 10 pages a night! I have a big TBR stack, too. Good luck finishing your to-do list so you can finish up Ponchetta!
Hadn’t occurred to me to listen to Armand…duh! I have a few extra credits rolling around…hmmm. Congrats on the completion of Ponchetta…curious: about how many hours a day and when do you knit?
Cheers~
I think it will be impossible to read 4 3 2 1 quickly! (It’s nearly 1000 pages. . . ) Louise Penny is a marvel. Each book in the series just gets better and better! Love your ponchetta — although it is so hot and humid today that I can’t imagine working on it. It’s going to be lovely, Kat.
I fell head first into the Louise Penny books as I recovered from eye surgery. I love listening to them and hearing the French names and words. She writes a good story. The Ponchetta looks pretty.
Oooh! I just finished reading “Home Cooking,” and have just added “More Home Cooking” to my list. Yippee!
