Yesterday, I saw this post from Gale which then took me to IG where I happily fell down a bit of a rabbit hole looking at #makenine2018 collages.
But, Gale was the starter of all this craziness and thanks to her I have also become a Ravelry Stalker of Kirsten Kapur’s pattern page watching for the release of not one, but two patterns: The September House Sweater and of course, her Mystery Socks which I hope will both be out soon.
I was going to “cheat” a bit and add my Treysta, but since I have less than 20 rows to go, I feel like it is already done (or it will be today!)
I have a little bit of sewing here, and lots of knitting.
Here is my Make Nine 2018:
- Ysolda’s Strokkur: I have the yarn, and am itching to cast on!
- Veronika Cardigan: I hope to spin some Romney to knit this.
- Merchant & Mills Curlew Dress
- Lotta Jansdottor’s Tunic from her Everyday Style book
- Through the Loops Mystery Socks
- Blaer: again, I already have the yarn for this
- Hygge, from Laine Magazine Issue 3: This is knit with Brooklyn Tweed Loft, so I am going to try and spin a similar yarn.
- Stopover: this time as a pullover!
- Autumn Forest, again from Laine Magazine: This is the only project that I have already in progress, however I have a good bit to still knit with 15 pattern repeats to go!
In addition to this, I would like to find some kind of sock mojo this year and maybe knit a couple of pairs of socks in addition to this list. I am amazed by those who somehow manage to knit a pair of socks a month… I have plenty of single socks that are sadly waiting for a mate. Either I find some sock mojo, or perhaps I start a trend of wearing mismatched socks!
What about you? Are you joining the #makenine2018 challenge?
I can make one in nine months maybe….
An ambitious and lovely makeninechallenge! I’m more along along the lines of maybe makefour. (And yes to mismatched socks!)
not one but TWO lopi sweaters! oh I am impressed. If I make one sweater a year it is a lot. Allison knits mostly hats and sweaters.
I didn’t make knit goals for this year…hmmmm. I’ll start thinking.
I’m going with the mis-matched sock option! đŸ˜‰
I’m going to give myself a few days to decide what to knit. Maybe having a “schedule” will help??? OR maybe I should FINISH the things I’ve started??? There are several that are finishable in no time at all. Hmm…decisions, decisions. Loving the #makenine2018!
I’m sure I’ll knit 9 things in 2018 but I’m not sure I want to commit right now to what they will be! The ones you have chosen are beautiful.
I think this is cool, but I am way too fickle… fear of commitment! Haha!!
I should warn you that I too have a strong urge to make the Veronika cardigan. However, the wonderful knitter Wendy Johnson, tried to make it and found the pattern really badly written and ripped it all out. fyi….
I’m gonna try to do then Box o’Socks again this year. And I hope to become friends with my sewing machine again …
There are so many things I’d like to make this year, but knowing how I tend to get distracted by the new and shiny, I’m not making any list. I will be making a Boxy, however, just as soon as I finish spinning up the yarn, and I have handspun for another sweater as well already in the stash.
I did manage to do 12 pairs of socks last year (actually more than that if you include design work and socks for my daughter). For me, the key is to have a sock on the needles all the time and to take it with me when I go out so I have it whenever I’m waiting somewhere (doctor’s office, pharmacy, restaurant, etc.). Those stitches add up!
Hah! I’d like to think I’ll knit 9 things too but I am definitely afraid to commit! I’ve got a sweater 90% done, a baby blanket for June and another item. If I can get that all done by June I’ll be clicking my heels! Go Kat Go!
I have a “make nine” picked out, but I am joining ZERO challenges this year — at least in an official capacity. Your selections are lovely! XO
Hey, there used to be a company that made and sold mismatched socks.. it’s perfectly cool to wear them thataway. I”m sure you’ll make nine and then some. Knit on!
Cheers~
omg, I love every one of your links! Strokker and Stopover are great lopapeysas (masondixonknitting.com did Stopover-along as a bang-out-a-sweater a couple winters ago),Veronica looks wonderfully cozy, Blaer is sweetly feminine, Hygge is a sweater for the ages, and I want to cast on the Autumn Forest scarf RIGHT NOW.
You will have such fun đŸ™‚
The nine projects are lovely. I’m more of a knit from project to project kind of gal. I usually have one large project, a pair of socks, and perhaps something else small on the needles. When I finish one, I consider what to cast on next. I say go with mismatched socks.
oh I LOVE your nine (and super impressed to see sewing there!) … I wasn’t going to jump on this bandwagon, but after seeing yours and Kirsten’s – I’m in!
you’ve picked some beautiful designs and it’s going to be a fun 2018 knitting wise for you!! I’m making steady progress on my son in law’s sweater (yay!)
I could pick out nine and knit 3 for a game of tic tac toe! There is nothing wrong with wearing mismatched hand knit socks!
Great picks! I just did my post for my 2018makenine as well!
