Welcome, Unravelers!
And, just like that January is over!
It was a good month for knitting! I managed to finish three projects! And, I have cast on another sweater for Berroco’s Lopi-Along! I started Strokkur yesterday but, I am not too far along. I love how Ysolda has me counting rows rather than measuring. I did get row gauge (which is very good) but I did not get stitch gauge, so I am knitting accordingly. It was a cold and blustery day yesterday, which makes for wonderful knitting time!
But, better than knitting was my January reading! The month started out with a bit of disappointment in the book selections, but it closed out with some really wonderful reads and I somehow managed to finish 12 books this month!
I finished reading The Girl in the Ice and loved it! A well written crime mystery. I gave it 4-stars and will try another book from this series!
I also finished listening to A Trick of the Light! Ahhhh! There is just something wonderful about Armand Gamache, and this is my favorite one yet! (I know, I say that every time, but really – the character development is just amazing and so touching in this book!) 5-stars and I highly recommend this series!
I started listening to The Woman Who Smashed Codes on Monday and really did not want to stop listening! It is wonderful!
I started reading The Snow Child.
Here is to this long month being over. The days are feeling less dark and February, while still cold, is, thankfully, not long! And, there is so much fun in February! Want to Lopi-Along? You can still join in, there is plenty of time! Are you up for some Olympic Knitting? I am pretty sure Team Rules Schmules still has openings! Perhaps, you dream of Banging out a Carbeth…and, if none of those strike your fancy, tomorrow clue #1 of Kirsten Kapur’s sock MKAL starts! So much knitting, so few days!
If you are joining in today with all the Unraveler’s, please leave your link in your comment! Have an amazing Wednesday and thank you for stopping by!
I am so glad to see January end; truthfully it is my least favorite month, between the darkness and the cold and the germs. And it always seems so long! Here’s hoping February flies by!
Wow, you are off to a great start for 2018! I feel like I’m finally ready for the new year (as in I’m maybe the only person who is glad there are 31 days … I needed every one of them!)
Great reading month is an understatement! I join the team and I have Lopi so I might need to check out that KAL too. Happy Wednesday
I had just a bit of unraveling this week https://chasingstories.wordpress.com/2018/01/31/unraveled-wednesday-23/
You’ve had a great month Kat! I am so tempted with Carbeth and I may cave…but I also need/want to pick up Sigla which I started last Spring and then promptly put down when the weather turned warm…
All of Louise Penny’s books are great – and like you, each new one seems better than the last. I just downloaded Glass Houses (the latest) on Overdrive and am anxious to start…but I have The Woman Who Smashed Codes and another one that I need to get through first.
That is just a LOVELY color, Kat. (Again.) I’ve signed up for Team Rules Schmules. (Because knitting shouldn’t have rules.) But I’ll be watching the Lopi-Along from the sidelines. (Because Lopi makes me itch so much I can’t wear it.)
I’m wrangling a cable needle this week –http://steppingawayfromtheedge.typepad.com/weblog/2018/01/unraveling-on-a-wednesday.html
There is just so much to enjoy and you did to the fullest! I will be on the TRS, and I signed up for the sock (but may not knit it). If I could wear Lopi I would have joined, but that yarn…ewww, just too skritchy! Have fun.

Isnt it weird? I love January and hate March. Anyhow, Your lopi inspires me. SOME DAY I’ll knit one. How can I call myself a knitter and not knit that classic?
I’m going to have to check out a few of those KALs. Although short in days, February always feels like the loooooongest month of the year. A KAL or two would certainly speed things along. Your reading impresses me. I had a good reading month but only read six. LOVE that purple, btw!

Wow you are amazing! 3 finished projects and 12 books? :O I have to up my game a bit. So far I have finished 2 projects and one book, maybe I will try to finally finish reading Wild and make it 2 books for January haha my link for this week is: goo.gl/SsUdwG
January — WHOOSH!! I can only hope the same for February. In March, I can sometimes begin to see a glimmer of hope…
I love the color of that yarn!!
Here’s what I’ve been doing this week —

I’ll be Lopi-ing and breaking rules in Olympic knitting and knitting those mystery socks, too. GOODBYE January!
I’ve got several Louise Penny books lined up! 🙂

I like January/February, growing up in Wisconsin helped and I have many comfy memories, but now the cold is different to my older bod! Sunshine is nice, better yet, it is great in winter!
Goodness, some of you knitters out there can knit so fast, or efficiently, . . what is the secret? Your sweaters are beautiful, I like Lopi yarn but have too many projects going to start anything.
I love books, reading is everlasting. I am patiently waiting for several from the library, such as “The Power” and “Little Fires Everywhere”.
January is over tomorrow, but here in Colorado, we have lots of winter left! It can snow in April. I made Boiled Wool Mitts for my son who goes to college in Maine. He left with them just done and here are his adventures trying to shrink them, my blog today – http://lovelyyarnescapes.blogspot.com/2018/01/wednesdays-yarns-boiled-fishermans.html
I loved snow child, I cannot wait to hear what you think of it! I’m still reading Gilead and am contemplating another gamache because, why not!
Thank you for the book suggestions-already queued them on Goodreads. I LOVE Gamache. I’m currently reading The Beautiful Mystery and it’s sooo good. I got introduced to Penny with How the Light Gets In, so I’ve been trying to get caught up. These books make me want to move to the Canadian border!
