Comes too darned fast! (And, looks like a budding sweater and, I need to add dust the blinds to my list! Haha)
I don’t know about you, but my weekend sort of flew by and not in at all a pleasant way.
Saturday, someone (not me) had the brilliant idea to replace the faucet in the kitchen….
Five plus hours later found us with no new faucet, lots of bad words, and can I tell you that I have some new crazy respect for plumbers who can lay in a cabinet to fix things.
Five plus hours that I could have been watching the Olympics and knitting.
Enter Sunday which was moving almost as fast as the Free Style Cross Country Skiers. And, again I am sitting here wondering where my knitting time went!!!
I am over the halfway point of the body of my Carbeth and all my plans for speeding through this knit are going up in smoke, sort of like my weekend! That’s right, in the brief moments I found to knit this weekend produced 10 inches of knitting!
This morning added to the ironic quality of the un-weekend, after yesterdays warm rains, today we woke to 8-ish inches of snow and Steve has another “snow day”. And, on a morning that I had NOTHING on my list but some quality time with the DVR and my knitting.
I hope your weekend was infinitely better than mine and that your Monday is full of only things that make you happy!
My weekend flew by as well — so much to do! So the snow delay this morning was welcome (though it would have been nice to sleep in; the delay notification didn’t come until after I’d already gotten up and in the shower). I’m surprised that you got 8 inches. I think we only got around 3, and it’s already melting! But the extra time was good, and it was enough to finish the second sleeve of my Ravellenics sweater.
While we were dry yesterday when I checked, this morning as I was leaving for work, I noticed water infiltration from this weekend’s rain. Luckily, it hadn’t gotten too far into the room, but still it required dealing with. On a Monday. Of course.
We had a deluge of rain yesterday! My s-i-l x 2 and I went to the fiber festival at the Boston Public Market yesterday though and it was worth it. Not huge but great local yarns. And I’m with you on the weekend…where the heck did it go?
Oh boy!! I have a very handy DIY guy at home, but he balks at the plumbing projects (and with good reason)!
Well, poo, that sounds like a very frustrating weekend. Plumbing is not for the faint of heart.
Snow, SNOW and MORE SNOW. That’s what we had this weekend. 6″-8″ on Friday, 4″-6″ on Saturday and yet another 1″-2″ on Sunday. Of course, I got to work all 3 of the days. The best news I’ve had in a long time, is that my laundered swatch matched the gauge for my Carbeth. Woot!!!
My DIY guy is good too (though at times he is a perfectionist and takes a “while”) but he will do plumbing. Yea!
Our rain produced near-flooding at the creek next to the little country road in front of our house with a big field fortunately in between. It already did flood (half the field, over our driveway bridge and the road) at Xmas time, And is forecasted again this weekend.
I dunno, snow might be better? Easier? Heavier?
I’d rather snow. ????
Well, I finished the socks and started another pair. FAIL. The yarn is cotton and kept slipping off my needles . I tried twice and decided..it is not meant to be socks. I’ve seen you all start and restart, and felt some comfort in that. SO I’ll cast on anew in a few and knit . Being at the barn ALWAYS makes me happy. So Saturday was barn time and Sunday was massivehouse cleaning and snow throwing. I learned to use the snow blower here. Not difficult at all! I was grateful for Olympic watching ….good luck . You are due for a great day!
Drat! Busted plumbing and cars are the worst! Hope the week gets better.
Oh that diy plumbing. At our home, it rarely comes out well. I hope your week is smoother sailing. The sweater looks pretty. I like the color.
Plumbing! bane of my existence, too! Just not paying through your eyeteeth is a bonus. Ten inches knit…that would be a major accomplishment in these parts…We have not had snow…rain and warmer temps…I feel for you friend…as my mom would say: “Be like Scarlett (O’Hara, Gone with the Wind) and think about it tomorrow”…in the meantime, happy knitting and enjoy the Olympics…
If there is one thing that’s guaranteed to ruin a weekend around here, it’s that dreaded plumbing. I tried to talk one of my kids into becoming a plumber and the other into training to be an electrician, but no such luck. Your sweater looks great in spite of the lost five hours!
Every good DIY guy I know hates plumping. One handyman I know does not touch anything that requires “water”. He’s adamant. I hope all turned out well for you and your guy and you don’t need to go through all that again. After a cold few fruitless winter days, we have 50s again.
Plumbing . . . ugh. It’s always inconvenient and majorly awkward to fix it. (Plus you can’t live without it.) I try to stay far away when Tom is dealing with ANY home repair — but especially when he’s dealing with plumbing.
I wonder who that someone is….hm. sounds like an interesting weekend with some stress! My husband does all the repairs around the house and plumbing makes him curse. oh well!
