Happy Valentine’s Day – or as Compassionknit says, Happy GALentine’s Day, Unravelers!
I got my knitting back on track yesterday and the body of my Olympic Carbeth is done and a sleeve is under way! Despite the little bits of time that I have had to knit on this, it is going amazingly fast! However, thanks to the Olympics, I knit an extra inch on the body. I don’t think it will matter and I am not ripping back! Yet…when I have the sleeves done, I will try it on and see what I think. It is a bit hard to tell in its current state.
All other knitting is in a holding pattern…that means the socks are on hold as is my Stokkur. I have marked my place in both patterns, however, so I don’t forget where I am! Hopefully, I will be back to knitting them this weekend!
My reading this week was so good!
I finished Sherman Alexie’s You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me (so so so good!) and The Snow Child (also so good!) but I have made little headway with Ali Smith’s Winter, because knitting and Olympics watching!
I started listening to Before We Were Yours. I am not quite halfway through but I am liking how this story is being told, very much!
At night I am trying to stay awake long enough to get into a Net Galley book, Gods of Howl Mountain. Sometimes, staying awake to read more than a page, err a paragraph or two is a Herculean task! But, I hope to get it done this week…if I can stay awake that is! Haha!
Did you see some of the new titles coming out this month? I am on the wait list for several of them at my library already!
As for Valentine’s Day… we are staying in. I am making my own riff on Surf and Turf with Lamb and Shrimp. Do you have special plans for dinner tonight?
As always, if you are joining us today, thank you!! Please leave the link to you post in your comment!
I am spending Valentine’s evening with our tiny person since his mom and dad have to be at church for the Ash Wednesday service. Quite a treat! Here is my Unraveled post. I am listing to Before We Were Yours too.

It sounds like you’re making great progress on Carbeth! I’m home alone tonight, but that’s fine because I’ll (hopefully) get some reading and knitting done before I fall asleep with a book or needles on my lap.

Go, Kat, go! That sweater will be finished up in no time.
We don’t have any special plans for Valentine’s Day, as my husband is coming back from a work trip and probably won’t be home until 8 or so this evening. I told him we’d make it up later in the week or this weekend!
Gosh, I just love the subtle colors in your Carbeth.
We’re lousy about celebrating Valentine’s. Neither of us are the mushy love type and my husband is a big believer in refusing to celebrate our relationship on just one day of the year. And honestly, I’d much rather he change the oil in my car on some random Tuesday without me asking, than bring me flowers simply because the calendar says he should. So, we’re boring on Valentine’s. In fact, he just left for work & neither of us even thought to say Happy Valentines. We’re horrible! 🙂

I love your sweater progress. Olympics make knitting so lovely here.
For Valentines day I sent my AL some fudge and coffee and sent my father some fudge. My father and I are trying to have a relationship again, so I was happy to send it. I didn’t hear from him, but I’m not upset or surprised. Im just letting him be him.
Fireman and I have been out the last two days with friends and we are both trying to be eating better, so we are having….wait for it:
Sweet potatoes baked with dried berries and walnut pieces for dinner. I did get him one piece of cheesecake . A tiny one
That’s great you are making lots o progress on the carbeth! Hope you are enjoying the Olympics so far too. That is great you got lots of reading done! My boyfriend and I are going out for dinner tonight for Valentine’s day. Hope you have a wonderful day! I SO need to read Sherman Alexie. Thank you for putting him back on my radar! Hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s day and make quick work of your lovely Carbeth. I posted about my Caffeinated shawl and Anthony Doerr over at Knit Potion today: http://www.knitpotion.com/2018/02/unraveled-wednesday/ Thank you for hosting Unraveled Wednesday! 🙂
In between naps – I’m sick ;-(( – I am just taking it easy…hard to keep my mind focused on much of anything…but, there’s always tomorrow, I tell myself. My post today tells a bit more…and sending all Valentine’s Day wishes…
Cheers~

I finally started a shawl yesterday (yippee!) and it felt good to be doing something fresh. I now have a simple knit and a challenging knit or a knit to work on while I read kindle and a knit to work on while watching tv.
I’ve been so busy at work that I haven’t done much knitting this week but I’m on VACATION next week and I can’t wait! Our plan for tonight is sushi.
I’ve been trying to finish up a hat for the Games. I’m impressed with your sweater progress.

No special Valentine’s Day plans for us. Just a glass of wine and the Olympics . . . and some knitting! (And Carbeth almost knits itself, wouldn’t you say???) XO

I’m in the middle of knitting the Easy Bulky One after a week-long dyeing marathon in Black Beans. It’s exciting to see it coming together so quickly (I’m a slow knitter). I’m going to bake a Chocolate Cake tonight from The Cake Doctor cookbook. A Chocolate Pound Cake with chocolate chips and melted chocolate on top. Chocolate and Valentine’s Day is a must. Here’s a version of it – http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/darn-good-chocolate-cake-cake-mix-cake-87205
We had a lovely evening but just a normal evening. Smith did make chocolate covered strawberries which was so sweet (but he used bakers chocolate! LOL). Someday he’ll learn. 🙂
I totally enjoyed Before We Were Yours, too. Seems like there are a lot of books about orphans and orphanages lately…
