This morning was frigid, but glorious. Sunshine and a cacophony of birdsong greeted me when I took Sherman out.
And snowdrops. A plethora of snowdrops!
I did not plant them, they were here when we moved in, just one solo little cluster of tiny flowers. But, this year, they have spread and there are 7 or 8 clusters!
My favorite harbinger of spring with their tremulous little blossoms – hardy and fragile at the same time.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
I pass a patch of snowdrops on my way to work — they’re all out now. Actually, I saw some popping up in December, which was quite disconcerting! But all my spring flowers (tulips, daffodils, hyacinths) are poking up from the dirt and I’ve been hearing birds in the morning, so spring must be around the corner.
Lovely!
They are lovely little blossoms, and I love that they mean spring is on its way! Mine are also spreading throughout the yard, and I would love to find some of the double ones that my grandmother grew and plant them this fall. More signs of spring are always a good thing!
Oh, how wonderful. We have an entire hillside in the ravine that blooms with these — mostly white, but some blue too.
Yes! Snowdrops are also my favorite harbinger. This fall I need to plant more!
Beautiful! We are on our way!
We had those pretty snow drops iN Illinois. THey grew and grew into big pretty bunches. I loved seeing their brave heads come up. None hear. BUt we have a rare 60 degree day and the sun is out. I cannot tell you how lovely that is !!! We walked for an hour. Winter isn’t over, but days like this are so good for our souls
I love snowdrops! I have yellow daffodils in bloom in my yard today!
Oh how wonderful! I need to plant some snowdrops. We had a delightfully balmy day today – 63 degrees. A taste of Spring all the way around. Good thing because rain and cold is coming tomorrow.
In my yard the daffodils are my signal. I might need to look for those little snowdrops
So lovely! Enjoy!
XO
there are some growing on the side of a road on one of my walks, I need to check and see if they are up yet! I love them so.
