…and why is it snowing again???
At 5PM last night, Steve said to me how is it Sunday night already? Where did the weekend go?
I could have used at least one more weekend day, or maybe two! Doesn’t a 3-day work week sound amazing?
Good things about the weekend:
- The snow did not stick!!
- There was a glorious amount of sunshine!
- The forsythia and lilacs are holding their own against some bitterly cold nights.
- There was knitting time, and reading time, and some other entirely mundane things (i.e. housework)
People asked on Instagram about the Friday cocktails… you can find the recipe here. Mod’s I made: we used Hendrick’s, no raspberry infused ice cubes, and no club soda. It is a very interesting flavor combination and I would absolutely make it again. Also, Steve thought that the raspberry-maple syrup would be a great addition to a beer! Ha!
Outside of all that, it was a very low-key weekend here. And, after last weekend it was most welcome!
My agenda for today? I have two library books due this week – so my plan is to get at least one done today! Monday’s are for reading, yes?
Now, when is the next 3-day weekend? Amirite?
P.S. A huge congratulations to Carole on her win on Saturday! I am so proud of her!
I’m not a big fan of gin, but I think the combination of elderflower liqueur and raspberry simple syrup sounds good, or maybe I’ll try it with beer like Steve suggested! Justin recommended Kentucky Vanilla Cream Ale and I tried it last weekend. It was good and might be better with raspberry!
The cocktail sounds intriguing, though I’m not so sure about the maple syrup part.
I really could have used a three-day weekend this week. Last week was so long and so busy, and I’m definitely running on a sleep deficit. I’d love to have the day off to curl up with a good book!
I agree that the weekend went by too quickly! I could use some recuperation time myself. Thanks for the shout out!
I know a cocktail shouldn’t be appealing to me THAT strongly on a Monday morning but….mmm… we love raspberry and gin and lime juice with a splash of seltzer and a teeny bit of maple syrup.
Your Pittsburgh spring is WAY farther along than our Michigan spring. (I’m just so jealous of these baby-leaf and exploding bud photos. . .) And . . . it’s snowing again here today. (Although not sticking, so there is that.) I have a library book due on the 12th. Time to really settle in for some good old-fashioned hardcover book reading! XO
I’m thrilled for Carole. What a big step and a good person.
Cocktails were abundant at the all inclusive ……in Mexico. It was wonderful. Cubs home opener postponed today due to SNOW.
There is a warm up promised….
SO HAPPY for Carole (and so mad I forgot to shout out myself). I’m planning on raspberry G&Ts when my sister visits tomorrow night (even if I have to light the fire 😉 Mondays aren’t for reading around here, but they are for getting things done so other days can be for that. Here’s to a good week!!
I might be on my third day in a row with sun….it’s a spring miracle! That bit of sunshine makes me very happy 🙂
Seems like Monday was light years ago…we had lousy weather Sat too but it’s all a distant memory and Sunday was much nicer…even tho not warmer…
Cheers~
I think I remember that Monday! Bring on the sunshine already-as it turns out I have raspberry simple syrup in my fridge-sounds like I need to a make a cocktail.
