The knitting on Eavesdrop continues. I know you will find this hard to believe, but I am not to the sleeve divide yet! I barely knit over the weekend…shocking I know! However, yesterday I worked on getting back on track and this morning I will be taking it off the needles to see just how close I am! I just started my third skein of yarn, so I hope I am close!
I also need to cut out a couple more Uniform Tops to stitch up! I have the fabrics all ready to go, I just need to sit down and get them cut out. We have some rain forecast which might help make that happen sooner than later! Or, I just need to stop procrastinating and do it!
My reading, however, has not stagnated at all! I filled the first two squares of my summer book bingo card with The Baron in the Trees and Snow Falling on Cedars – both of which I absolutely loved!
The Baron in the Trees was a richly told story of an adolescent boy, Cosimo, who takes to the trees and he stays there until he dies at age 65. It is vibrantly written, incredibly engaging, and a truly lovely story and I gave it 5-stars!
Snow Falling on Cedars was equally well written, but in an entirely different way, and still a very compelling story. It has had a profound impact on me and it also got 5-stars.
I am almost finished reading A Month in the Country and have about 4 hours of listening time left in The Magicians. Do I think I can finish them to count in May? I don’t know but I will certainly try!
What’s next?? I will be starting the Night Stalker today! And, I have the second book in The Magician’s series and Nora Ephron’s Heartburn queued up next! The best part…all these books have a square on my bingo card! I love summer reading, don’t you?
But, what about you? What are you making and/or reading this week?

I love your enthusiasm about summer reading! and all the sewing. I have yet to get started on my first Uniform, but I have a queue in my head to sew, sew, sew … once I finish Sara’s blanket (and migrate my blog).
I read Snow Falling on Cedars many years ago, and I still remember it vividly! Great book. 🙂 My knitting is just crawling along these days. But . . . oh, well! My garden is getting in quite good shape. So there is that.
XO
I also read Snow Falling on Cedars years ago, but only remember that I loved it. Since I can’t remember any details, I may have to fit it and the third book in The Magicians series into my summer reading. I’m off to put them on my ipod; thanks, Kat!
You are killing at Bingo already!!
I love all your reading reviews– I finish much fewer books per month but am always happy to get suggestions. I also loved Snow Falling on Cedars and recall it vividly, which is rare for something I read years ago.
Like others, I read Snow Falling on Cedars years ago and, like Bonny, I only remember that I did love it. I think I read Memoirs of a Geisha at the same time.
Snow Falling on Cedars is a spectacular book. I still remember it, even though I read it many, many years ago (I think I may have even been in high school).
I am reading a really interesting nonfiction book called Quiet by Susan Cain. I’m really enjoying it, but it’s a slow read.
Snow Falling on Cedars – so good! I’m still reading Outlander #7 but I hope to finish later today or first thing tomorrow.
I love, love, love Snow Falling on Cedars…I think it “ruined” my reading any body else’s* fiction! I’m going to re-read it this summer, I think…
Cheers~
*Not that I haven’t.
Snow on cedars is on my to read list, I need to bump it up on the pile! I knit more than I thought over the weekend 🙂
I too read Snow Falling on Cedars years and years ago. It was a wonderful story! I’ve got two squares filled on my bingo card, too. Reading goes on well, but my knitting is so slow it barely counts!
Snow Falling on Cedars is one of those reads that I’ll never forget! Hoping to find something like that this summer! Will be filling a bingo card right after work with The Immortalists…what to listen to next…what to listen to next!
I finished a BB square, and almost done with another one. I have finished a sweater, but think I’ll need to re-knit the sleeves cause I used a circular on one sleeve and dpns on the other, and I don’t think it’ll block out. Am making progress on Joji’s Puntilla-
