Greetings Unravelers!
Summertime and the knitting is varied! That’s right…when the weather gets unbearable – vary your knitting projects! On Monday I started my Knit a Beekeeper Cardigan in 4 days (okay, for my size I can take 6 days… but I think 5 days will be my sweet spot!) I am 15-ish rows from my “try on” point…which will hopefully mean I have arrived at the Great Sleeve Divide! I am still working out my next day of knitting (which might not happen until next Monday!)
Vodka Lemonade is in a bit of a holding pattern this week as I finish up Clue Two of KK’s MKAL…Clue two is a lovely chart that must be repeated three times and I am almost done with the second repeat and Clue Three will be out on Friday!
However, all this knitting has meant some very good listening this week!
I finished June strong with my finish of This is How it Always Is (which I deeply loved, and it got 5-stars) and that means I read 13 books in June…13 very good books! By my count I read 6 5-star books and 7 4-star books, and I highly recommend every single one of these books!
My July is starting out with a bit less enthusiasm – I finished Ohio, which was an ARC from NetGalley. It only got 3-stars from me and you can read my review here. As you can see, it was a difficult read.
Fortunately, Gilead is not that at all and I have about 2 hours of listening time left! I am enthralled with this lovely novel. It very much reminds me of The Secret Scripture in how the tale is told. It is wonderful writing and I will have it finished today.
I also began The Weight of Ink and Us Against You.
Up Next: The Picture of Dorian Gray.
That’s all I’ve got to share today…what are you knitting or reading?
If you wrote a post today, please leave your link below!

P.S. One lucky person who comments today will get a free month of the Washington Post, I will use random.org to select that person! Good luck everyone!
You had a great month of reading! and I predict July will be just as good … and with two sweater finishes 🙂 I am really enjoying Clue 2 – one more repeat to go for me!
Glad to hear the reading has been so successful! Enjoy the holiday!
Between your great knitting projects and your topnotch reading material, you’ve got a great July ahead!
I’m trying to decide on what to cast on next, even though I have three projects on the needles. I do love the thrill of the hunt 🙂
It looks like you read some great books in June and here’s to more in July! I am enjoying knitting clue 2 and have started the second repeat, I’m such a slow knitter that I know I will fall behind!
Whoa! You’re burning up the tracks there with your 13 great reads – 13! and your knitting. Go Kat Go! Looking forward to the MKAL reveal.
Stay cool and Knit/Read on!
Cheers~
Your projects are lovely. I am trying to finish my shawl so I can get to my needles for the Beekeeper.
Between working too many hours, tendinitis, and that puppy of mine, the 4 (or 7 day) Day Sweater is not going to happen this time around. I also have to complete Miss Audrey’s sweater before her birthday later this month. My plan for the Beekeeper is to at least get it started before July 15th. 🙂
Happy Independence Day!
Strong finish for June reading. I am knitting a hat and test driving a shawl pattern for some pretty reclaimed yarn. I am stitching on quilt blocks too.
Happy Independence Day! 🙂
I finished reading Us Against You last night, I’ll be interested in your thoughts. The characters are so real–no one is all good or all bad.
Waiting for audio from library: Calypso. Reading blogs! Knitting a hat with gradient yarn
Gosh, you are a trooper – writing on the 4th July! It’s that middle-of-the-week holiday, an odd day.
I’ve read some of your June books, and always peruse whatever you read as yours are very good suggestions, thanks.
And listening while knitting is an additional bonus, isn’t it?
You are tearing it up with the reading and knitting! Those books from June are excellent.
You’re shredding it, Kat! 🙂
Lovely knitting, as always.
Looks like some good recommendations. If I could read in my head as much as I knit, in my head, boy I’d be flying through the books!
