I am taking a page from Kym today and sharing a TGIF post, because I am pretty sure you are sick of seeing photos of in-process-but-not-finished knitting!
T – Thinking About: Books to fill in spaces on my second bingo card. As you can see, I have a few filled in. I need some help from you all though with a couple of squares: “With an unreliable narrator” and “Audiobook with multiple narrators.” As you can see, those two squares will be crucial in being able to get a bingo or two!
G – Grateful For: Kristen Kapur’s brilliance at writing an extended clue 6 for those of us who will have extra yarn! That’s right, I don’t even have to think about how much more to knit, she has plotted it all out for me! And, the bind off! Oh my! I am not sure I can get through 55 rows today, but I am eager to get this shawl done to share with you how amazing it is!
I – Inspired By: The Smitten Kitchen’s cocktail recipe last week – so much so that I have a peach “shrub” that has been brewing in my refrigerator all week! I will be doing my own riff on her Bourbon Peach Smash for tonight’s happy hour.
F – Fun: More sewing for Genevieve is on deck and I am thinking about all the other possibilities to make for her. Things on my radar include the Geranium Expansion Pack, the Pierrot Tunic, and the Charlie Bundle.
Now, how about some Friday Links?
Do you use Slack? Did you know there is a very active knit community there? Knit Chats is an online community with teachers and scheduled “help” time available. The community is quite active and there is always a KAL going on. And, there is no cost involved!
Marie Greene has a new pattern out today: Whiskey & Rye
This week there is some amazing inspiration with combining two yarns: Watching Over You and Margila
The Mojave Collection from Kelbourne Woolens is just gorgeous!
Negative Spaces Scarf includes a “photo tutorial on how to knit the square holes without cutting the yarn”
Marettimo… oh my.
That is all I have for this week! Have a great weekend and I will see you all back here on Monday!
Have you read “Gone Girl”? That’s a great one for an unreliable narrator (more than one, actually). As to the audiobook with multiple narrators, I listened to “The Woman in White” on CraftLit a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. The book is written from multiple perspectives, so each narrator’s part was read by a different reader.
Code Name Verity, Before I Go To Sleep, and Rebecca would work for unreliable narrator. I didn’t love the last two books but ymmv. Code Name Verity also has multiple narrators, along with Olive Kitteridge (I really like Olive, but lots of people didn’t). The best multiple narrator book I know is The Help; well worth a re-read even if you’ve already read it. I hope you find some books you love!
Thanks for finding Negative Space; it’s so intriguing!
For an unreliable narrator, The Woman in the Window is a fun listen and the classic Agatha Christie The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is my go-to recommendation. I listened to Glory over Everything for multiple narrator and it’s good. but for something different, how about a full-cast recording of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest on librivox. I listened a few summers back and recall a most-delightful Saturday afternoon with knitting!
I know I had that unreliable narrator square last year and I read The Nix for it but I feel like you’ve already read that.
Isn’t Whiskey and Rye GORGEOUS! I’m seriously thinking I might have to make that one.
gone girl was the best unreliable narrator that comes to my mind. never heard of slack…now to investigate.
I’ve been loving that Negative Spaces pattern! So. Cool. It looks like you’ve got several good suggestions for books, here’s another one or two: Life of Pi is about the best “unreliable narrator” book I can think of, and A Visit from the Goon Sqaud is great — with “multiple narrators.” Have fun!
Home Fire and Sing, Unburied, Sing are both fantastic and have multiple narrators
I am thrilled to see so many recommendations for Unreliable Narrator! I need that square to finish my 3/4th Bingo, although I may have read nearly all recommended. I’ve never heard of Slack, but I don’t want to go down another rabbit hole of SM. I look forward to your links!
I LOVE ZINNIAS love your photo today
