It seems unreal to me that August is almost halfway over. The big bees seem to know though and this morning I woke to find the first overnight guest of the season. Yes, this large bee spent the night in the butterfly bush and, even though I am trying desperately to slow down time, waking to find this bee is certainly the best way to start the day.
I hope your day is full of lovely surprises, too!
Over the weekend, I spent some time gathering some flowers from the Russian sage that is blooming along our driveway in preparation for an attempt at natural dyeing, and I was so pleased to see a number of bees buzzing around our flowers. Lots of bees is a good thing!
Every day I see more signs of autumn. Every day I grasp the summer warmth (yes,I like it) and everyday, I mourn the loss of light. BUT, there is plenty of summer to enjoy and soak up!
There is no denying a change in season when you’re in the garden! 🙂
I still have vacation to take – summer is not over yet!
ooohhh, that is a lovely surprise! the only signs of approaching fall we’re seeing is fading blooms and dropping (stressed) leaves – and of course – school buses! – but hopefully soon … cooling temperatures 🙂
He was a handsome fellow too.
…and my day, indeed was lovely…as is the bee!
Cheers~
