I had a moment of panic this morning when I looked at the calendar and realized that we are almost midway though September! Here are some of the things that are on my list this week!
Thing One:
The summer months were so wonderful, and the extended daylight made it so easy to ‘blog in the moment’ and that early morning light worked well for that day’s inspiration. However, darker mornings (as well as the recent spate of grey, rainy days) have really thrown a monkey wrench into that process. I need to get back to Blog Planning and my list includes getting myself back to doing that. Yes, this means less spontaneous posts – but it also means less stress about photos and content for the day!
Thing Two:
Likewise, summer meals also fit into the ‘in the moment’ category with practically no planning at all. However, as we enter fall that same meal spontaneity is not working quite the same. I need to get back on track with some actual meal planning. My list today includes doing some of that so there is a reduction in the recurring ‘what’s for dinner tonight’ conversations where the answer is ‘I have no idea’ LOL.
Thing Three:
Finally, two weeks from tomorrow we head off to Michigan to visit the kids. Two weeks! I need to get my list going! Every year we take way too much stuff. This year, I am hoping to curb that significantly by curating last year’s list. Yes, past me made notes for future me in my journal! Hopefully, this year we will take just the right amount of stuff!
There you have my things for today! What are you planning this fall?
Need more things? Head on over to Carole’s!
I can’t believe how quickly September is flying by! I think that with all this driving back and forth between NJ and MD I lose track of the day and date. I’m trying to regain some time (instead of letting it just slip by) with better planning, and blog posts and dinner are included!
I am definitely noticing the diminishing amount of light every day, and frankly it is depressing me. I think I need to get better about planning to take blog photos on the weekend for the week ahead so that I’m not forced to take photos with flash at night.
It’s crazy that we’re half-way through September!!!!
I’ve decided to postpone thinking about Fall until after our trip. but it does feel weird to have these dark mornings when it’s 90 degrees in the afternoon. You have three most admirable goals – good luck! (and please do share if you get any kitchen inspiration!)
I’m laughing at your packing dilemma. I always tell Doug I have a huge suitcase…it’s called a CAR! 🙂 Unless you’re flying…then good luck! 🙂
I make notes at the end of every vacation, too, and it helps with planning for future trips.Come to think of it, planning helps with everything – blog posts, trips, knitting projects . . .
Planning . . . ALWAYS a good idea! 🙂
I get really lax with meal planning during the warm months. It’s just so easy to Make Do in the summer! I, too, have been struggling with the getting-back-to-it. Maybe next week???? 😉
We are planning some travel in October and early November to visit family. Oh that meal planning thing. Sometimes I think a cook would be the ultimate luxury. I know that “What’s for dinner?” conversation all too well. Have fun planning your trip to Michigan.
I need to get on board with meal planning too. We eat too many meals out OR soup/sandwich dinners.
I think this hot/humid weather just makes cooking not so attractive.
I get up at the same time every day and just how dark the mornings are has stunned me. Mylo and I walk every morning between 5:30 and 6:00 (or so) and seeing Orion and Canis in the dark blue light is amazing. There are pay offs to being a morning person. My meal plan is a restaurant rotation. LOL
Next week, short three day cruise, Los Angeles to Ensenada, Mexico to celebrate our oldest daughter’s 50th birthday with sisters and sisters-in-law and me, all six of us!
Planning has gone on for weeks.
