Welcome to the Vacation Unraveled where there is not much making of anything but memories going on!
The vacation knitting has slowed considerably, but I did start a vacation sock. This was to be my ‘car knitting’ but I am carrying it with me everywhere! Monday there was some Oral Surgeon Knitting when we were there with my son while he had a little procedure. It was also in Frankfort at the lake, and has been in microbreweries all over the area! It will be a sock with a good story, that is for sure! Haha!
This is all I have knit thus far – but it is super portable and easy to pick up and put down, unlike Tegna which is a bit to lug around!
The reading is doing a bit better though! I managed to finish Everything Trump Touches Dies by Rick Wilson. This might be the first book about this train wreck of a presidency to make me laugh since the Orange Ogre took office, but much of what Rick talks about are things I have heard him speak about or tweet about before – although he does use the best words! I gave it 2-stars.
At night, I am reading a page or two from another Donal Ryan book… The Thing About December. It is the perfect “end of day” read!
Also, I am listening to People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks – and I am actually getting some listening time in because we are walking LOTS!
What are you making and reading this week? Inspire me! Please! If you wrote a post to share today, please leave your link below!

Think of all the memories that will have been knit into that sock when it’s done!
“People of the Book” is one of my favorite Geraldine Brooks novels. I think I have read all but one of hers. She’s a great writer.
Happy vacationing! I am listening to Queen oh Hearts and working up the nerve to start my sleeves
I think you’ve accomplished quite a bit on that beautiful sock, knitting lots of motherly, Michigan, and microbrewery memories into it! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
That is the PERFECT color yarn for visiting micro-breweries!!! BEER colored yarn from the light IPA all the way to the stout.
Wish I had some inspiration for you, but I’m sort of spent and retreating a little myself. Trying to listen to Winters Tale by M Helprin, but will put it aside for a bit as it’s not the right pairing with a somewhat involved sweater I’m knitting at the moment. I’ve downloaded Plainsong, which I’m looking forward to starting.
Perfect socks and matching bag! Your photos are lovely and give me a lift in these very trying days. Enjoy your family visit – such precious times 🙂
I always THINK I’ll have knitting-time on vacations . . . but I rarely do! 🙂 So glad your sock is getting so much attention — it’s going to be a beauty. Enjoy!
Beautiful traveling sock. I love the color. People of the Book is a great story. Enjoy it all – microbreweries, a little sock knitting, and best of all the time with family.
A sock is the perfect vacation knitting and it sounds like you are showing yours a good time!
Love your yarn! And I’ll have to check out “Everything Trump Touches Dies” by Rick Wilson. I missed that one. Of course one can get OD’d on it all. Sometimes reading about the train wreck helps, at other times I find shutting it off and diving into some fun, fluffy fiction a good fix. I could use that about now. 🙂
People of the Book is 1 of my favorite Geraldine Brooks books…and 1 of my favorite books all around.
Crystal Lake? Sounds like you’re having a wonderful vacation! Listening to Elinor O is Just Fine…not what I expected but so good! Have a great weekend!
so glad you are having fun with your family on vacation!!
I LOVE your sock progress. Your stitches are perfection. I’m into socks right now, too. I havent’ been reading lately. In the throes of baseball season ending. 🙂 Even if my team is out, I love to watch the game.
Just got Circe from the Library waiting list. And knitting the Berroco Cable a long. And dealing with cauliflower and squash bounty!
