Happy Monday, Gentle Readers!
Fall arrived in the ‘Burgh over the weekend… crisp days, very cool evenings, and yes, someone caved and turned on the heat but it was not me! And, my advice of putting on long pants versus shorts fell on deaf ears…
It was a weekend full of decorating for fall, but especially Halloween! Steve and I have been debating Halloween – do we give out treats? Do we pass? We decided that for the sake of the couple of neighbors with young kids, we will. These are the difficult decisions in life, I am telling you! Ha
It was not a weekend with much knitting. However, I did get my wheel out! I gave it a good tune up and I did some spinning! Saturday, I finished up the last bit of a braid of fiber from David at Southern Cross Fibre and yesterday, I plied it. It just needs a bit of a soak and I will see how much yardage I got. I don’t have enough for a pair of socks, but I think there will be enough for a pair of mitts!
There was also no baking – even though we got some lovely apples this weekend. I am hoping that I can solve that problem tomorrow! Today I have training to be an election worker!
How was your weekend?
P.S. Amazon has Still Life for $2.99 today!
That skein is beautiful!
We also turned on our heat this weekend, but to be fair it did drop into the 30s on Friday night and I (who am always the cold one) was not the one to do it!
Your handspun is gorgeous; my favorite colors plied together beautifully. I’m almost glad you don’t have enough for socks as it would be a shame to hide that beauty in shoes!
That yarn will make beautiful mitts.
I love the little jack-o-lantern lantern. Adorable.
We had our first fire in the wood stove this weekend and it felt good! I’m too old to play that game of not turning on the heat when it’s cold.
I’ve had my heat on for weeks — and off and on and off and on again. We may even have had the AC on in between! That’s just they way it is. Haha! That yarn would make some LOVELY mitts.
We’re too old to be cold too! We got a gas fireplace insert last year and that has been a wonderful thing! It was c-c-c-cold this morning! Your handspun is gorgeous!!!
The furnace kicked in…I leave the thermostat set @ 75 year round…so, it got cold, apparently… we never have trick or treaters…and I’ve yet to get a pumpkin and mums…so much rain that the leaves are all just brown and soggy…
Rain again today…think I”ll go read a spell…Hope you got those pies baked and learned all about election working.
ha! I love that Steve turns on the heat to keep wearing shorts. Marc and I are both soundly in the “if it’s cold put on a sweater camp” … hopefully we are now in the wonderful 3 week period where we can live without air conditioning and heat. certainly makes our November bills a little nicer 🙂
That jack o lantern is so sweet. I love your spin up in blue. So so pretty. Nice job
Our weather has been rather like a yo-yo so far this fall, so we go through periods where the heat is on, and then where the windows are open again. Right now? Heat. But I’m still wearing flip-flops, so there is that.
🙂
no one comes to my house for halloween and we’ve lived here since 2005. However, there is one boy that has come to my house twice in the past 4 months and I have a feeling he would ring my bell for trick or treating. So I will make sure I have something for him and his possible friends. I’m sure the house will be chaos for the dog and cat!!
I’ve been bundled up for a few weeks now. We’re heading into a warm spell and I’d be happy if I could open a window before winter comes to stay.
Such pretty handspun yarn. That is a talent for sure – one that I don’t have.
