I started reading The Overstory yesterday. It opens with a selection of poetry and this poem by Bill Niedjie struck me…deeply. I hope it moves you as well.
Tree…
he watching you.
You look at tree,
he listen to you.
He got no finger,
he can’t speak.
But that leaf….
he pumping, growing,
growing in the night.
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Just lovely! I listened to The Overstory as an audiobook, so I appreciate reading the poem in print.
I think it’s this time of year when I’m more aware of trees than any other time. Your photo is a perfect accompaniment to the poem!
What a lovely tree . . . and a lovely poem, too.
Beautiful photo of the tree and that blue, blue sky.
Beautiful photo .. Interesting poem
That’s a beautiful photo and I like the poem, too.
This is the first thing I’ve seen about the book that makes me want to read it! (gorgeous photo, too!)
The photo is gorgeous! GORGEOUS! Our trees are no where near that stage – and may n ever be. Most are brown and dropping leaves like there’s no tomorrow…too much rain ~ or I’m just impatient.
The poem is quite lovely and provocative.
This is why we love autumn!
