I am so happy that it is Friday and the end of the last two mixed up crazy weeks. Not one single day felt like it should have thanks to the two holidays! Sadly, New Year’s Day brought with it the Mother of All Colds to my house which has not helped at all but I am happy to say that despite a cold-fogged brain, I have made some progress on my daughter’s birthday gift and last night I started on the second color! Also, the cowl I made for Steve’s Mom for Christmas was such a hit, his dad would like one as well and I hope to get something cast on for him over the weekend.
I had hoped that Steve would be excited to sit down and work on our 19 in 2019 list… ha! However, I have not forgotten, and I started working on it without him – and it just might be the best “honey-do” list ever created. Haha!
Thinking About – My morning routine – deeply thinking about it. It should be the high point of the day, and I am spending too much time on things that are a distraction from that. I have been “trying out” some new ideas and I believe that I have come up with the perfect solution. Part of this solution includes a new way of planning my day out. I had been using the same basic system for years and have continued to use the same thought process as when I was working – however, I did not accommodate for the changes that would happen in my schedule – I do not need a list to remind me when to do laundry, or dust (okay, maybe I need this on a list somewhere! Haha!) I spent a good deal of time in December thinking about what I need from my planner and what I don’t need! January 1 brought the implementation of that new process which already feels smoother with less internal struggling! Cold aside, this has truly helped me enjoy a more focused morning to get myself off to a better start of the day! I still need to make a list that incorporates all the important dates of the year, but I will work on creating that page later today. I have not been one to be “artistic” in my planner, but this will allow me the freedom to be creative if I want to be! Four days in to the New Year and this already feels more comfortable and my mornings have been much improved!
Grateful For – Puffs Plus Lotion and hot tea!
Inspired By – How diverse and, yes, female, the new congress is! Women won more than 60% of the seats that were flipped last November! The NYTimes posted this great interactive article that allows you to go deeper into those elected! This gives me great hope and yes, inspires me greatly! We are finally moving toward a body of elected officials that look like the people of this great nation! And, yes, with Hakeem Jeffries, I am down with NDP!
Fascinated By – Everyone’s words this year! I am entirely fascinated in the choices, the process of how they were selected, and I am really looking forward to seeing how they unfold for you this year. It is not too late to join us, Juliann will be hosting on the last Tuesday of each month.
That is all I have for this week! Have a great weekend and I will see you all back here on Monday!
I want to hear more about your planner plans because even though I am not a planner person, I can’t seem to stop being curious!
One thing I have done to free up morning time is to write and schedule my blog posts in the evening during TV time. Then I try not to open my IPad until after I have done my morning reading.
I hope that one day I can get to the point where I can plan out my mornings. For now, it’s just a mad dash to get everyone out the door on time with everything they need for the day.
I hope that the cold goes away quickly — push those fluids!
I do hope you feel better. I think it’s wonderful that your Christmas knitting has been enjoyed and appreciated so much that it has brought you more requests. Hooray for the knit-worthy!
John chooses not to participate in some things that are important to me, so I’ve been proceeding without him. Not in an angry way, but more like realizing that life is far too short to not do things. So far this has been trying new restaurants in MD and DE and I’m having fun by myself. Steve might wish he had participated in the planning!
Hope you are feeling better soon.
So glad to hear you’re improving and hope the cold is retreating quickly!! I am working on my morning routine, which will change next week because the pool is finally open and I’ll be returning to class! Mylo is my main focus (always) and I’ll have less computer/planning time. How’s that going to work?
Feel better quickly Kat! Like Juliann, I’m curious about your planner. I’m not a planner person either, but I love looking at them and seeing how people use them. Yay for successful Christmas knits!! Go You!
My morning routine is fast Mon-Fri with working full time, but I still manage to sneak in some MSQT (thanks Honore!) time before running out the door to work. Weekends are a tad bit more luxurious. It helps that I get up much earlier than Fletch.
Well poop on that cold – sending all the best “feel better soon” wishes your way! I, too, have been greatly inspired by – perhaps even hopeful?!? about – the new Congress. I switched up my calendar this year too – we’ll have to compare notes!
I’m finally getting over my cold . . . hope yours is gone soon. It’s hard to settle on a morning routine when you don’t have to rush off to work or get kids on a bus! I have found that flexibility is key. . .
Happy weekend.
Feel better soon. And yes to Puffs plus tissues. They make a cold more bearable. Your new morning routine sounds intriguing. I am glad it is working well for you.
Feel better real soon!
I am glad we’re at the end of all the holiday “stuff”. I’m switching up my morning week day routine and hope that by moving my exercise time to after work it will feel more productive. I prefer exercising in the morning, but there just isn’t time since my commute to work can go from 20-90 minutes in nano seconds!
My cold morphed into pneumonia very quickly, I hope that doesn’t happen to you! I am feeling better, though, and coughing a lot less. My morning routine mostly involves getting my ass out the door to go to work but I love my Friday morning routine of drinking coffee, meditating and then journaling the best.
I hope you are feeling better as you read this comment! I changed up my morning routine. I’m only writing in one journal instead of two. I set aside some prayers and daily reflection books to add different ones. I’m reading the bible in a year and changing my morning routine allows me the time to read the bible first thing in the morning so I don’t get sidelined by LIFE.
