Despite a topsy turvy week that was very out of kilter on any kind of schedule yes, it’s finally Friday! I am reminding myself of that because it does not feel very Friday-like to me…but hopefully I am over that feeling by the time Happy Hour™ starts! And if not an icy beverage and some fun eats will certainly help me get into that Friday Mood, right?!
Totally over – winter! I mean really. This week was my tipping point. It was a week of almost all the weather seasons happening in.the.same.week. It is impossible to know how to dress and I need hip-waders to walk in the swamp that is my back yard! I just am really ready for spring and all the spring things! I am itching to get outside and not be hampered by the bitter weather!
Grateful for – The Amazon email suggesting I watch Agatha Christie’s ABC Murders! The casting is spectacular with John Malkovich as Hercule Poirot and the trio of stories are brilliantly done and I can thank the ABC Murders for all the knitting company! Yes – I have just 3 colors to go to completion!
Inspired by – Katrina Rodabaugh! Yes, I finally check out Mending Matters from the library. I started reading it last night and oh my. The ideas are mind-blowing and brilliantly executed. I also had a lovely chat with the librarian who checked me out – she had just finished the book and her enthusiasm for hand sewing encouraged me to not knit last night and instead dig into the book! I was profoundly struck by her motto: Just begin. How true that is for everything – stop worrying that your technique is not perfect or that your skills are lacking, “Begin this journey with whatever skills you have today and trust…You’ll improve techniques as you practice.” This is definitely a book I will be adding to my library!
Fun, fun, fun – Pittsburgh Indie Knit & Spin is Saturday. And though I don’t need any yarn, but I do want to knit this sweater and I do not have enough of any yarn to do so. Right now, the forecast is just calling for a rainy day and if that does not change this is on the list for the weekend!
That is all I have for this week; the knitting is calling! Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you back here next week!
I have been doing a little sashiko the last couple of months and I was lucky enough to get in on Katrina’s Winter Subscription kits. I finished the first (a tea coaster) and got the second which gave me a couple of patches to help with my visible mending (stash). I am hooked. I am going to start a sashiko sampler soon, too. I think I’m hooked on this technique at least for awhile!
Cute sweater! I hope you find the perfect yarn for it!!!
I hear you about winter… we have “weather” predicted this weekend, the type(s) you’d expect at the end of February. OVER IT.
I LOVED ABC MURDERS!!
SASHIKO is amazing. I wish I had more time…
LOVE that sweater! Good luck in your search for yarn — can’t wait to see what you might find!
I’m not a big fan of Poirot (I like Miss Marple better – she knits!) but this version of ABC Murders sounds like it is worth watching. And if it keeps you company while knitting your Shawl of Many Colors, so much the better! Just begin is a great motto for so many things and I need to remind myself often.
well now, I need to watch the agatha christie thing! I read ALL of her books when I was pregnant with my first child (no job and LOTS of time on my hands….).
Great tips in this post! The ABC Murders sound great. John Malkovich is such a good actor. And that cropped sweater, too; it is totally out of my wardrobe comfort zone, but it could be great fun to wear. I have wanted a fingering weight sweater for a long time but fear it would take the rest of my life to knit. Maybe cropped, bracelet-length-sleeved, collarless stockinette sweater is the answer.
Agatha Christie purist here and while I did enjoy ABC Murders, I wasn’t too keen on the lack of mustaches and the crazy back-story. Marc and I got ourselves back on track by watching David Suchet in Death on the Nile 🙂 Have fun at Indie Knit & Spin … that sweater looks like the perfect excuse to buy yarn!!
I hope to see you at IKS tomorrow! I won’t be there until the afternoon (I’m playing with my mahj group over brunch in the morning), and like you I don’t *need* any yarn, but I love to support the vendors.
I really like that cardigan! I may have to be adventurous and try it. 🙂
I’ll have to check out the Agatha Christie-love all her books. I’m totally over all this rain we’re getting; while the temps are getting warmer it’s just so w-e-t and g-r-a-y!
Hope you found the perfect yarn at the Knit& Spin.
