I am happily joining with Carole and everyone for this week’s installment of things! This week, it is all about the sewing… all.about.it!
I have been spending a good bit of time with my trusty old Bernina recently, and I am happy to say that I almost have my entire quilt top completed! I just have two side strips of fabric to seam on – then the sandwiching process, pinning, and getting it off to the machine quilter! All this cutting, piecing and sewing has really been fun! And, I am thinking about some smaller projects that I can try quilting myself! Which brings me to my things this week!
Thing One:
Via the Bernina Blog, I found this lovely little Spectacle Quilt. A trip to Joann’s yesterday was highly successful and I came home with this stack of fabrics that will soon be cut into the pieces to make the blocks! My goal is to get this done in time for Genevieve’s 4th birthday in July! Advance planning for.the.freaking.win!
Thing Two:
In the “make something to try and do some machine quilting” category, these place mats caught my eye this week. Fabric obtained. Sewing to begin shortly!
Thing Three:
Finally, some clothing sewing will be happening soon as well! This stack of fabrics will soon become a couple of Willow Tanks, a Willow Dress, and a Pillowcase Dress for Vivi!
Like I said… all.the.sewing! What about you? What things are you focused on this week?
P.S. I made one of these yesterday. And, while it is hard to photograph – it is TOO CUTE!!
Great fabrics you’ve chosen Kat – can’t wait to see all the clothing, placemats AND a finished quilt!! You are speedy!
There you go, tempting me with the sewing again! The fabrics are all so (sew?) beautiful. One of these days I will learn how to sew more than a button.
That bag is soooooo cute and lucky Vivi!
I have to make a bunny bag for my great niece! You have some lovely fabrics to work with…happy sewing!
I always admire people who can sew with fabric. I don’t quilt well because I tend to have a “it’s good enough” attitude which doesn’t work with sewing quilt blocks together and well, I flunked clothing sewing class. The dress I made had one arm longer than the other and the zipper was upside down and inside out. The teacher suggested I find a new hobby.
Those fabrics are all really beautiful! Have fun with all of your sewing!
LOVE the bunny bags. Not sure I will get them made this year but I’ve saved the pattern for the very near future.
Cute bunny bag! You are inspiring me to get back to quilting!
LOVE this, Kat! I’m ready for April (and May! because MeMadeMay!!) to be ALL about the sewing! (and we could be twins if you turn that x’s fabric into a Willow Top 🙂
Great projects. I’ve been reorganizing and cleaning out closet and storage space, including fabrics. The placemats are so fun. And I think special pillowcases might be a fun gift for grandchildren.
I love all these projects you’re working on, Kat! Just seeing the different fabrics is inspiring 🙂
That bunny bag is just the cutest! XO
look at all of your beautiful fabrics! they are screaming spring has sprung! Love the drawstring bunny!!
I love the sewing plans, and the fabrics you’ve pulled together are awesome.
