There is no black-and-white situation. It’s all part of life. Highs, lows, middles. – Van Morrison
Mary has challenged us this week to share #goodnewses, and, Gentle Readers… the struggle is real. How do you find good news when there is so much horrific news? Part of me feels that even finding something good is being a Pollyanna, especially not in the times we are living in. I think Van Morrison is right – it is not a choice of good over bad, but rather understanding that sometimes it is not either or, not good or bad, but rather just bad.
And, so rather than trying to write a forced TGIF post – today I am taking page from Michelle and sharing #atinybitofquiet.
My plan for today will include cutting out another Uniform Dress, finish the last 3 inches of the body of my sweater, and be comfortable in the fact that bad news is part of life.
Happy Friday everyone… if you are in the path of the heatwave, stay cool! See you all back here on Monday.
So true. An important thing I’m learning as I age is that things are rarely black or white. I’m much better off giving up binary thinking and embracing it all. It’s difficult, but much more realistic. Enjoy your day, and stay cool (and calm) this weekend!
Well said! Hope you can have a peaceful weekend – stay hydrated!!!
There is bad news out there, but look at the good you’ve found in your quiet moments!
Hope you all stay cool and comfortable this weekend!
There’s always going to be bad news but I agree that things feel particularly dark right now. All we can do is keep making good decisions, keep sticking ourselves out there and doing what’s right, and doing what Elizabeth Zimmerman suggested: knit on, with confidence and hope, through all crises.
Have a wonderful weekend, Kat! I’m going to be unplugged for a part of it, myself, and SO looking forward to that.
Bad news is part of life but we get to choose how we let it move us too. Take care and comfort
This time does feel a little dark. I remind myself there have been other times in our country’s history that must have felt equally dark. My antidote to all of this is to make something and try to give a little kindness somewhere. A drop in the bucket I know but it is something.
This weekend was a much-needed respite for all of us. I’m glad you had some good things to focus on (and I think the sewing results are most good-newses-worthy!) xxoo.
last week was really really difficult for me 🙁 I’m glad we are all in this together and I don’t feel alone.
I know what you mean about all the horrors in the news. It’s hard to take in sometimes, isn’t it? I’m glad to know you settled into a little quiet. xo
The highs, the lows, the middles…yes indeed.
Also…that uniform dress is cute!!!
