Are a harbinger for a coming change….
The past two morning it has been so crisp outside that I needed a sweater to work in the garden! Everything is laden with dew and glistening in the early morning sunlight. The drone of the mosquitos and the buzzing of the cicadas seemed like “white noise” as I picked vegetables in the garden.
Over the weekend, I noticed the birds are beginning to flock – sitting in fretting little groups on the wires around our house.
No matter how I want to ignore it, the summer days are waning. So today is all about “making hay while the sun shines!”
What about you? What do you feel the need to get done before summer is over?
I’ve enjoyed the mornings this weekend – so refreshing! No rush to get anything done, I just plan to enjoy the days!
I need to get more garden produce into the freezer. No literal hay-making today, but plenty of bean-blanching and tomato saucing! I hope your own “hay-making” is productive!
I was delighted to turn off the central air and throw open windows & doors over the weekend — at least for a while!
We’ve had a couple of mornings lately that qualify as “Mashpee Mornings” and that relates to the ones that inevitably occur when we’re on the Cape and the mornings are cool and crisp and we just know that back to school and fall is right around the corner. But I’M NOT READY!
I’m thrilled that there are soft signs of fall, I wilt during the summer. This lovely cool front over the weekend was NOT in Philadelphia….it was 86!! I’m glad to be home and it feels just fine right now.
I’ve been up north . . . where it’s downright nippy overnight and in the early mornings. And the acorns are beginning to fall. So, yep. The seasons are changing!
While I’m getting a little bummed by the shift in sunrise, I am enjoying those mornings we’ve had recently when it’s on the cooler side — especially on the weekend, when I’m out early for a run and don’t start sweating immediately! I’m not ready for summer to be over just yet, but all the same I’m also looking forward to fall.
Here in the heartland the weather has been summery hot and humid. The evenings are shorter and I’ve seen a few maple leaves on the ground with fall colors. Public school students went back to school on Monday. Fall is around the corner.
Absolutely nothing! Summer is my least fave season and I’m counting the days/nights til Fall arrives! Out and about, my heart sings as I see evidence …just a few weeks away! Wahoo!
Cheers~
