By the time you read this, I will be in the process of picking up the stitches around the neck of my Tegna. It still looks like a bright pink fluffy blob, so no photos until it has been finished and blocked!
However, the turn in the weather brings a great desire to *cast*on*all*the*things* so I thought I’d share my next projects…
Project One:
Aisé and my plan is to knit it up with a strand of Silky Alpaca Lace and a strand of Sparkly Kid Silk Haze. (The yarn combo on the right in the photo above)
Project Two:
Evening Dew Cardigan which I hope to knit with one strand of a skein of Briar Rose Fibers Angel Face with a strand of Fibernymph Dye Works Floof. As long as I get gauge, that is! (The yarn combo on the left)
No, I just can’t stop with the mohair/silk yarns! The two of these should take me through the end of the year (plus a portable project or two and an add-in gift knit for my son’s girlfriend)
That brings me to the reading this week:
I am slowly working through Just Mercy. I have deliberatively slowed my reading pace and I am even taking some notes! I am very much looking forward to discussing this book with fellow Read With Us participants next month!
I finished Julia Child’s My Life in France and I loved every word. How I did not know this book existed is beyond me but thank you Sarah for suggesting I read it! 5-stars and if you are a Julia Child fan, it is absolutely a must read!
That is all I have for this week! What about you? How is your making going this week?
As always, if you wrote a post to share please leave your link below and thank you!
The next projects you have on deck are lovely and will be so cozy with all that mohair/silk!
I finished Just Mercy last night (as much as I wanted to savor it, I couldn’t put it down). So good! And I also devoured The Nickel Boys over the last two days — also excellent, and I have you to thank for the recommendation! I’m glad you enjoyed spending some time with Julia in France. She was truly a fascinating woman!
love your new project to be! I wish I had some mohair and lace in my stash….so maybe go shopping? I did pick up some mohair blend but I cannot remember the amount of yardage…Can’t wait to see it come alive.
Your yarn combos are gorgeous and will feel wonderful! I’ve never knit with KSH, but now that I know it comes in a sparkly version, I may have to knit with some mohair/silk myself!
Your new projects look wonderful and fabulous yarn choices too. I re-discovered a Rowan pattern flyer (I think there are four sweaters in it) that I bought decades ago – all in KSH. I may just need to indulge. I read the Julia Child book a number of years ago and loved it. What a life!!
Pretty new projects coming up, Kat! I used a cashmere/wool blend with a strand of mohair when I knit a Love Note sweater this summer. It is the ultimate in luxurious! Can’t wait to see your new projects come to life! (I’ve got my eye on that cardigan, too. . . )
Oooooh the yarn in that photo looks so squishy and the colors are fab.
Oh Kat – I LOVE your next up projects! One of the ladies I knit with at my mom’s just finished Aisé and it’s lovely … and of course I adore Ririko and all of her designs. Melissa at Espace Tricot has a similar love affair with stranding mohair. I’m not sure I love knitting it, but wow! the finished pieces are stunning!
I love your mohair silk combinations. I look forward to seeing those projects in progress. This does feel like the season to have a cast-on party. I want to finish hats and mittens for the grands before I cast on a shawl. I have a pretty set of mini-skeins so I am dreaming about patterns.
Julia Child will be available in 7 days–thank you for the recommendation!
