October is the fallen leaf, but it is also a wider horizon more clearly seen. It is the distant hills once more in sight, and the enduring constellations above them once again. — Hal Borland
My October images had a clear pattern of almost daily changes – I watched the trees go from green to glorious in slow motion – the color beginning at the top and gradually flowing down the course of the leaves. We had our first frost. We also had such amazing skies and, happily, very little rain! It also included a quick Michigan trip to visit some of my favorite people. And, movement… lots of movement.
The video last month has to be one of my favorites. There were so many butterflies all month long! Our butterfly bush just seemed to be hanging on just for this purpose and it was magical to head outside each afternoon and find dozens of them covering the blooming panicles.
Thanks for looking back at October with me! How about you? What did your October hold?
My butterfly bush needs to be pruned. The colors in your photos are lovely.
Such a wonderful October for you, full of colorful outdoors and happy kids.
I wonder where October went for me . . . it fleeted away while I was busy doing the things I should have done in September!
Saw a butterfly yesterday, poor late fellow – fly away!
I love the many faces of Sherman in the photos and the video!
I have not seen a butterfly around recently, but we do still have some hydrangea blooms on our two plants, which amazes me. We had one last rose blooming as well, but then the gardeners came and “pruned” (really, hacked off) anything that was left.
So much wonderful color and smiling faces in your pictures and video. October seemed to fly by for me.
I love that quote along with your lovely October photos (complete with plenty of Genevieve)! My October brought two separate trips to CO and too many other cancelled plans, details, and worry, but I’m hoping November will be a bit more balanced.
Beautiful, Kat! I love the smiling faces in your collage – and all that gorgeous rust/red! – and the video … really enjoy seeing the season change, the butterflies … and you back out there walking!
Beautiful images and video! Our butterfly bush is done but it was gorgeous while it blossomed.
Love all those butterflies! And go you…all that walking! 🙂
Such beautiful photos and video. I loved watch autumn colors appear. And that little Genevieve is such a little sweetheart. I imagine she is one of your greatest joys. October flew by with travel to Fort Worth and Connecticut.
